This was ours…e290 big cam 9 speed fuller, passed me test in a ford cargo in the morning dad sent me to Felixstowe in the afternoon. crap brakes crap heater crap steering lock (twinsteer)reminded me of the country song “give me 20 acres snd I’ll turn this thing around”.remember a lad laughing at me at the ferry master Felixstowe cos he had a new 112,wasn’t laugh when I ■■■■■■ past him before deputy dawgs!!! loved it. wish we’d kept it. .

hey i think that is a 400 DEANB ?

I drove a 4 yr old SedAk 401 Twin rearsteer at the beginning of 1989 for a Northeast company until it went off to Auction in Leeds, I believe around 12 mths later. Unfortunately I can’t recall the full Reg No today all I have is B…GTN, is there anyway I could fined the correct reg for this vehicle and identify it as the actual one, is there a Register of vehicles from Seddon Atkinson available. I’m sure there was a 4 or a 2 in there somewhere but can’t recall the exact numbers or how they went, all I know is that the reg was very close to my old man’s 1965 Seddon with its Reg No of GTN 412C which I have burned into my memory and why I know part of the 401’s registration, why I can’t remember the rest from a vehicle which I drove for a year beats me. I also have to say this 401 was a nice motor to drive and I found it more suitable than the newer Strato the company ran, the bed for a start was much more comfortable and probably the best bunk bed I have slept on. It was a bit iffy on some inclines for traction but once used to the handling it wasn’t so much a problem, just wish I’d taken a picture of it now, any help appreciated. Cheers Franky.

There’s a club called CASSAC it’s to do with Atkinson Seddon and Seddon Atkinson lorries they maybe able to help
I think it’s run by John Ramm

Cheers Gazsa, I’ll look it up, always wondered what became of it after being Auctioned, I was annoyed at the time, I came into work one Monday morning and the Gaffer said ‘Take your gear out its going to auction this morning’, needless to say I didn’t stay there very much longer. Cheers Franky.

I beg to differ mate. The man I worked for had 4 trucks with 320 gardners and all 4 had the same problem, the cylinder heads kept going porous. It was a big problem at the time.
regards dave.
