Hi All
Is an 4G SD card the same as an 4G SDHC as i am looking at putting Navcore & truckmaps on a card. The one i am looking at getting is a Sandisk card. Would this be OK
Thanks in advance
JJ
Technically they’re not the same, an SDHC card is a high capacity SD card but is the same size and has the same pins as an SD card so will fit into a devise requiring an SD card OK.
A devise that was built for SDHC cards are backward compatible with SD but as far as I know an older devise that was made for SD cards before SDHC came into being will not recognise an SDHC card.
Depending on it’s age the likelihood is that your devise will be OK with an SDHC card but your best option would be to check the devise instruction manual for compatible cards.
All 4GB SD cards are SDHC cards.
The original SD specification cut off at 1GB. Ways were found to make 2GB cards that worked in most SD card slots, and eventually the 2GB SD card was added to the specifications, though some devices will not work with them.
There is no way to make a 4GB card without using SDHC.
