As a footnote, what is with the marking of the pictures? All this copywriting crap, they’re just photos of old lorries, as fantastic as they are, they ain’t the Crown Jewels and surely the rights to the pictures belong to the owneres of the lorry being photographed, I’m a big fan of this thread and the old pictures, but they’re spoiled by the writing all over the pictures.

Hi newmercman,
I’m sorry if the copyright watermark upsets you,To be honest its a ballache for me to have to do it,unfortunately there are people who find it great to download a picture and then sell it or pass it on as their work…believe me I’ve seen pics from the scrapbook on e-bay plus others from other threads.
All I can say if the majority dont want pics with a copyright on then I’ll just put up cuttings only.Remember this…ok the lorry I photographed is an object…I paid for the camera, the film and the processing, therefore its my handywork and my copyright… also have you got access to 60,000 photographs of lorries for us to enjoy looking at…if you have lets see them.

Bubbs.

I only asked :open_mouth:

I have spent many hours looking through this thread, it’s fantastic and I hope it continues forever. I know you are a serious photographer of lorries and that a lot of work goes into what you do, not just the talking of the picture and developing, but also scanning them onto here and my comments were not meant to offend, you can get the hump about it if you want, but my opinion remains the same, I think the copyright markings spoil the pictures.

Same as ever, its always the few thieving gits that try to take advantage of other peoples endeavors and end up spoiling it for the rest of us that “play the game” and respect the rules.Don’t get upset Marcus!!! ■■■■ em all mate!!! Cheers Dennis.

Newmercman,I respect your opinion and yes the pics are spoilt but whilst there is a small minority of idiots who have personal gain as their priority then I and others HAVE to protect our work.
I dont want to lock horns with anyone, but if viewers on here want to see my old photos then the watermark has to stay, like I said earlier, I can still put up cuttings but its up to the majority to tell me.
Please continue to look in and contribute…I’ll put you down as a no,I dont want pics just cuttings.

Bubbs

I totally understand Bubblemans reasons for copywrighting the photos.

I would much rather see a pic with the copywright on than not see the pic at all.

Keep up the good work Marcus.
Neil.

I also agree with what mechanic77 says better with than not at all.Keep em coming bubbs & everyone else for that matter. On a personal note I find that if you contact the copyright holder which I have done on numurous occasions most of them will allow you to show there photos or if not they will put them on themselves for you.So Bubbs dont stop now mate watermark or no watermark.

That is correct, but someone really needs to look through those boxes at Truckfest and Gaydon as many are nicked photos, to me if they are on Google, they are public domain, if they are on Ebay they are probably nicked

hiya,
Just keep em coming Marc I personally don’t mind the copyright marks, your pics in particular aren’t too badly affected and why shouldn’t you protect your hard work?? to me, yourself and other TNukers who go to the trouble of giving us the pics we all love to see I personally when “doing the job” never took photo’s and to see things on here that Ive actually driven and motors like the ones I’ve driven makes an old guy very happy, so keep her going good buddy and long may you reign.
thanks harry long retired.

Blimey, is it your time of the month Bubbs

I never said anything about stopping putting pictures up, I simply asked why they had the copyright thing on them and said that I thought it spoiled the pictures, I even said that I meant no offence in my response to your reply, just in case you’d misinterpreted what I had written as a critisism, you agree yourself that it does take something away from the pictures, so we’re singing from the same song sheet and we don’t even need to agree to disagree

Bewick sums it up perfectly, this is the best thread on this site, not just this forum, I’ve followed it avidly since day one and have gone through from start to finish a few times, such a shame that you have to take measures to protect your hard work, but I’ll echo the views of those above, keep em coming mate, copyright or no copyright

Hello Bubbs,
You never mentioned the ear bashing you must get from er indoors when you spend all this time posting photos on trucknet when the grass needs cutting and the paint is peeling on the garage door. I suppose copyright has just about gone the way of the Briish motor industry in this computer age but the photos that we put on here are for the enjoyment of members and guests. If we wanted them to be in general circulation we would put them on Flikr.
I put a photo of a Loyds of Ludlow Daf on here not long ago with no markings and a copy was for sale on e-bay last week for 90p + postage.
It would be nice to see unmarked photos on here and we would all like to have a supermodel as a partner but life is never what we would like. Keep up the good work Bubbs and I will see you at the next Keynsham get together.

Cheers Phil.

WELL SAID THAT MAN.

Hello again, lets put this copyright thing to bed,Newmercman voiced his opinion which I would think there are quite a few who agree with him,I want to keep posting pics but they will have the copyright watermark on them…its the only “safe” way to stop exploitation.
I apologies for this inconvienience.

A visit to Masons in the early 80s saw several Big Js still giving good service.

Not an exciting lorry to photograph but Roadjokes were still new on the scene at the time, this one is seen outside Lex Tillotsons (formally Steels Commercials) on the A420 at Kingswood Bristol.Flats and houses now stand where this Leyland dealer used to be.

A pair of Mercs resting at Free Foresters yard at Mitcheldean…the old BRS yard if I’m not mistaken.

Capital Tradings Merc1626 is seen on Aust services, while the drivers gone for a pot o’ tea

Southampton reg “C” series heads westbound on the M4 near Bristol.

A company thats no longer with us,this Maggie 290.19 was brand new when photographed.

Canons Marsh lorry park in Bristol sees this 3300 parked for the weekend, the buildings in the background and the lorry park are no more :frowning:

Heading for j24 on the M5 this 143 from Blandford has a Taymix tank on its back.

If any of these have been put on before, well I’m sure it wont hurt for a second look

Cheers Bubbs,

The easy answer to that one Malc is dont buy them off ebay.

Mark was the Myers Iveco C96PMV I bought that of off Brian along with E45/47FMX and to be honest they served me well .
