Yeh Paul, but not relaxing and partying on ferries anymore like some I could mention, ,
hiya,
Worked for Bowker a couple of times in the 60s and early 70s and never knew they had that one maybe they didn’t have it then or I would most likely have been allocated it, I always seemed to get lumbered with the oldie of the fleet, except the bleeding 80 which I did get brand spanking new and on that occasion I asked for my old motor back, but no joy.
thanks harry long retired.

Cheers Bubbs,
hiya,
Gentlemen here we have the king of the wag and drag combo’s the very best of that era done many a mile in one just like that nice on the steering and not so knackered “me not the motor” after a hard day and comfy enough for the trailer boy to have his little kip.
thanks harry long retired
Hi Harry, I agree with you on the superb shot of the AEC and drag it says it all about that era !
I remember a funny tale about a new “trailer boy” starting at Elliotts of York, he was asked by his driver to clean the windows before they set off with their ERF CI5 and drag. His response was that there were no windows on his bit and therefore it was not his job to clean them. The driver said to him “ok mi lad then thou can bloody well ride on your bit”
After an hours ride on the trailer on a freezing cold morning the driver stopped for breakfast and when he came out of the cafe the windows had been cleaned !
Afterwards over a period of time the driver and mate became very good pals but sadly the mate was killed in a domestic arguement and shortly after the driver left to driver for another company.
Regards Tony H.

Cracking photos of the Butler and Wincanton AEC MK3s.
I wonder if Nathan drove the Butler’s motor, sure he worked for them at one time? Maybe a bit before his time.
Hi then, heres a few more care of Retriever
The last one was took in Penzance
Cheers Bubbs,
So was the picture with the Dolphin Inn in the background. Its location is Quay Street, Penzance - now called the
Dolphin Tavern complete with hanging baskets and tables for the tourists outside. Sadly the Albion is long gone!
