good photo of the Radco Foden, is it from a Foden News?
My ex Dalgetty Roadtrain was from the old Radco Mill
Chris Webb:
I still call the A14 the road that ran up to Godmanchester through Caxton Gibbet and the A14 as now I still call the A45.And Alconbury - Cambridge is still the A604,can’t help it
I remember one driver at MFS wanting to know why I got to Chepstow before him on trunk. The only way he knew was M5 and over the bridge, never knew about M50/A40/A449 to Newport and a left on the M4.I took him back to Maltby that way and then came off at Longbridge and down Bristol Road into Brum and out on the old A38 through Sutton to Lichfield for a change - he was right up my a*** through Brum
Chris …we call them Blue liners…If that satalite ever goes wrong everyone will stop and put their handbrake on. even if they are in the middle of the motorway.I was explaneing to a kid that we knew all the routes through citys. He replied that a sat nav would re route you if there was a problem. I told him we always had a plan B.But he was still insistant that the magic box was right.
John.

I still do that with the A45 & A604
900x20 I still use a paper map now, even when I went over to Canada I bought a map, same with the USA, recently I came back to England, ended up staying a bit longer than planned so did a couple of weeks work, first thing I did was buy a map & an A-Z
Newmercman - The only way to travel!! Maps don’t take you down little country lanes,or,worst of all into a field.
I used to do 14 drops in Germany with frozen goods to American bases, and the mapbook got me to each one. 900X20.
Whats a Sat Nav
The picture of Appleton’s Borderer was taken at the back of the offices at Allied Mills - Seaforth Dock. The silos are in the background, along with one of Allied’s own wheat tippers.

hi wheelnut, the picture of that Darlingtons ERF pmd 606h looks very much like it was taken in Lenham village, kent. the raised pavement with the rails around it look identicle. coulling brothers are just down the road. doubtful it would be going to lenham storage as LS is entered off A20 outside village.

I’m not so sure, that’s a fair size hill that ERF has come up, it’s raining too so it must be up north somewhere
I don’t think the Export & Genral Dodge was the first in the country as my Brother owned an M reg one and I drove a BRS Truck Rental one on an R plate in 76.
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs.

I see that even the professionals make mistakes as the name on the ferry NORSTAR and in the heading it is NORDSTAR and they had it spelt out for them in the photo and there is us ill educated old gits trying to learn from people whose livelihood it is.
