Old pics taken Edinburgh area.

I was at Peterborough the year that was taken. I remember the exact scene

Here’s an oldie from Derbyshire. A.E.Hawleys,Upper Lumsdale,Matlock finished in the mid to late sixties. This was taken around 1959/60 period and IIRC the old Foden nearly survived to the end.The late Norman Lounds then ran his transport from here until he finished and of course its now Slacks Coaches who reside here. Its a bit creased but its memories. Mike.

Great stuff RR, The good old days, Larry.

Poor quality, but they might jog somebodies memory.
Haulier based around the Huntingdon/St. Ives area. Possibly called Eldon or something like that.

It wouldnt be Elmers would it, that Merc. looks familiar, Huntingdon area reg. too. He did a fair bit of work for Superior and Norfolk Line several years ago. Of course I could be wrong but if it is Elmers one of his old drivers is pictured in your post on Norfolk companies. Lyndsey Coulson was TM for EH Clarke of Gt. Yarmouth. Cheers Haddy.

Another one of my great uncle Isaac, With the courtesey of his neice Diane Smiles.

Yes Haddy, you’re right again. It was Elmers. It was Lindsey who lent me the photos.

Great set of photos oiltreader, many times I went over The Struy in the 70s & 80s, must be a much better road now. Reddaways Transport has been owned by the Clinch family for many years, “Removal Boy” put several photos of their trucks on the Devon Hauliers thread. The Houghton double decker behind the Leyland Roadtrain looks like one of Roy Stuart’s old ones

Hello Mr Coaker, the trailer behind Mr Roger’s Roadtrain (Page 271) certainly does look similar to those run by Stuart’s. The two horizontal stips on the front of the box look spot-on for where Stuart’s had their name boards. I can’t find any photos showing Stuart’s having a tandem axle trailer though? Many thanks to oiltreader for his fantastic photos!

Here’s a some from the '50s and '60s when Yarmouth Docks were thriving. H&S didn’t exist in those days it seems. Regards Haddy.
