Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

Here’s a Brit-registered Renault/Mack Magnum: quite impressive, really! Robert

Rumour has it that the driver of this Merc has got a little lax of late about checking his rear-view mirrors on roundabouts… I notice he’s on haz-plates too! Robert

Hiya,
A little incident when travelling home from Washington (Tyne and Wear) not DC,
I pulled up at a set of traffic lights and bang a car went up my back end, quite a
jolt but the only damage was her busted number plate which had contacted my
towing equipment nothing wrong with my motor, but the outburst from the quite
elderly lady (and I say that very loosely) it went something like this, why did you
have to stop there she ranted, well because the traffic signals were showing red
I says by which time they had gone from red to green and back to red, Oh’ she
like all women got the last word when she asked me who would be paying for her
number plate, I just shook my head “waited for the green” and drove off.
thanks harry, long retired.

When?

Hiya,
Well it would be about 5 past 9 (evening) bringing the Missus home from the
Bingo the day Friday the 27th of June, That near enough Harry.
thanks harry, long retired.

Aargh, you’re spoiling her Harry, at 21:05 YOU should be resting at home and imbibing, building yourself up for another hectic day tomorrow AND NOT swanning all over Tyne and Wear doing taxi duties.
“have you got your bus pass my love because you’ll need it to get home” (chapter 5, “How to handle wimmin”). Quite clear in the book Harry…you’re spoiling her.

Used to do a lot of work around Bristol from the early 80s to early 90s and had totally forgotten about that place, even though i used it often.Funny how a photo can jog the memory.

Numbum:

Hello Keith,
Leaving central Bristol on the A37 Wells road you climb up a long hill to Knowle. The Priddy Metford tanker has just got to the top with the George pub behind. 1988 I think.
Cheers Phil.
