Once upon a time, there was a cafe at Marsden near Huddersfield and a hill, occasionally lorries coming down the hill became runaways and this was the result
Cec Rose was very lucky to get away without injury. I don’t know about the drivers of the other two vehicles
A few more from Bloxham but a bit more variation…
I love the little Fodens and the Trader is pretty…
A different view of NeilB’s Kew first though

Motormans cafe. Just on the start of the pull up Standedge (A62). It was a decent cafe in the early 60’s, I used it often. Only downside was that if you’d been lucky enough to get a run at Standedge going through Marsden and were going well up the hill, you had to stop and a restart there meant a slow slog all the way to the top, no 500/600 hp engines and auto gearboxes in those days, more likely an old Gardner plodding away.

John
Hello again lads, great pics from Bloxham Paul…well done.Been going through my stuff and found a box of pics which had a load of preserved stuff in,1st pic for today goes back about 18 years.
I borrowed this ERF from work (I’d just bashed the front of mine up
)and my pal Clive got the trailer, this is what we collected…its now all preserved, the results can be seen in the last pic
Clive making a last few adjustments before heading home.
Cant for the life of me think where I took this all I know is that I took it over 30 years ago.
This was took at truckfest Peterborough, only time I’ve ever saw it.
Stourpaine for this old girl, not seen this about for a while.
Little old Bedford artic at Wroughton, again not seen this about for ages.
Dear old Commer at Stourpaine.
An old Albion seen at Bath.
Dave Edwards Comet at Wroughton when he still worked it,its since been retired and fully restored
Having a rest at the top of Shap,I bet our pal Harry Gill would love to have a go in this one.
Bloxham I think,Danny Dovey with his arms folded in the background.
The pile of scrap on the trailer in the 1st couple of shots ended up as the lorry on the right
Just a change from the dross I’ve put up over the last few weeks.
Cheers Bubbs,
They’re never dross, Bubbs! Always a good memory jogger for some and, at the very least, interesting for everyone else…
Intersting coincidence that you’ve put up one of Dave’s Comet - I came across a couple of her yesterday. I’ll put them up in a day or three… Lovely old truck…
Have you still got your bubble?
D&J Edwards: Do they run a Daf 2?00 4w tipper?
hiya,
I’m afraid I’d have to do battle with Chris Webb before I stood
a chance of a bit of a tootle in the eight legged AEC, and he’s
got youth on his side, never got hold of a Park Royal cabbed
job to pull a trailer with but have had a go in them solo they
was my favourite motor of that era.
thanks harry, long retired.
Hi Bubbs the picture of Wrekin Roadways Scammell Highwayman coupled to the King trailer is unusual as the Scammells mostly had the Scammell trailer which was a four in line but I think with the King trailer having a longer goose neck and the highwayman being a short wheel base it would not be a comfortable ride if you could have a comfortable ride in Scammell Highwayman.
cheers Johnnie
