Scottish based hauliers running aboard?

How the hell do you get your foot in the door?

I suppose the answer is look for a Dutch outfit that cover Scotland. Hear the oil business isn’t doing too well at mo so choices pretty limited but good luck.

Maybe fish out of Peterhead or Fraserburgh?

Not many going abroad nowaday’s thanks to the Taliban invasion, mainly smaller specialised outfits left, fridgemen doing the fish or meat jobs and they don,t give the keys of a Topline V8/XL Globetrotter and Gray and Adams to anybody who just rocks up  It’s what you know and who you know

glutton for punishment?? stick your nose/name into norfolkline/dfds at larkhall…I think the still have subbies running down to bolougne ,runges etc with the fish that comes over from n.i…try and go 2nd man for an unpaid trip with someone and see if your nose fits…no point in emailing or phoning.just go in and ask.youl get a start with a subbie befoe youl get in with a bigger co…though…youd be on fridge work, with all the added on benefits…i.e no sleep, and hooked up on occasion…who dares wins…

hi sbp.22
you could always give Boyles a ring they sometimes struggle to get drivers, or maybe double crew for them a couple of times to get some experience.
Sorry do not know the number. Irish firm based in Glasgow i think.

They do loads to Italy mainly and some Swiss. They no longer run Scanias, mainly Ivecos now, I think.

I know a Boyles driver that lives near to Milton Keynes. As long as you don’t live too far from the routes they use…

I for a short time worked for a Buckie company running with fish from Aberdeen to Bologne … 15 hr spread over via the tunnel and they expected you there !! :frowning:

I see PC Hamilton in the south of France regularly. They might be worth a call.

I worked for Boyles a while back still keep in touch with some guys. Worth getting in touch with. Go to their web site fill in the application form and im sure Neil will be in touch. As for PC Hamilton, remember the old saying “flash but no cash” thats them.

Hi Josier,
Did you know a old guy named Eric who worked for Boyles, Started with them about 4/5 years ago from North Yorkshire.
Not seen him for a couple of years now, perhaps he has retired.

£90 per shift? I wouldn’t get out of bed. What an insult. 12 hour shift equals £7.50 per hour haha. More fool the mugs who work for this! Suppose some people are happy with peek a boo curtains and shiny wheels rather than a decent wage!!

And Tartan cab curtains with frilly tassels and pelmets .
