i always thought that if the belgium/french police tried to stop me near the border, then i could just carry on, and they would have to stop before crossing the border.
i saw a UK registered truck being pulled by the BAG, he was within spitting distance of luxembourg. and to this day i thought he was a bit of a ■■■ for stopping.

i couldn’t believe it when i read it. i have had visions of running for the border with some appropriate tunes at full blast.
various countries have come to an agreement in some cases I belive that they are limited to about 10 kms over the border, here at Irun the Basque Police can cross the border but the Gendarmerie have to stop the vehicle
Well, they can pursuit criminals through the borders even without Schengen, just a special arrangements have to be done, but there are some special procedures for such cases. .
There was a famous case about 10 years ago than some robbers robbed bank in Germany, they took two women hostage and set for Polish border hoping that the Polizei will loose them at the border, but thanks to the cooperation between the ministries of internal affairs they got permission to pursue them into Poland. They were joined by the local Polish police cars at the boder, but since they were Polonez cars from local village police posts, the Germans in their Porsches were continuing the pursuit until Polish pursuit vehicles took over well after Świebodzin. Then they set up through Wrocław (they passed under my window of where I used to leave) and then set back east again. When they stopped for fuel in Silesia disctict one hostage was helped to escape. They set again East and they got to Ukraine, pursuit by the Polish cop cars almost to Rivne, when they got to Kiev, they got lost in the city center, Ukrainian police managed to give them mobile phone and they negotiate their surrender and release of the hostage.
