Gibraltar is to become part of the Schengen Zone, the Foreign Secretary, the unelected Lord David Cameron said on Monday.
.
There is so much irony, and so many twists and turns in that statement that it is difficult to know whether to laugh or cry.
Anyone flying from the UK to Gib will soon need to show passports to EU border officials.
"# EU border guards could turn British tourists away from Gibraltar, Lord Cameron admits
Passport checks to be carried out on all travellers post-Brexit treaty but Foreign Secretary insists it will not âdiminishâ UKâs sovereignty"
RightâŚthe EU decides who can/canât enterâŚbut we still have sovereigntyâŚ
Done with a big grin on his face no doubt in a âIâll show emâ stylee)
Cameron staked his job on a remain vote ffs, then went on to lose it in an arrogant ââI Really cant believe itââ type of way.
It aint rocket science, 99% of the Tories (no stats no back ups no links Frangers, âŚMY take from what I have seen/heard/deduced, from the bleeding obvious.)
That is why Brexit has been implemented in the half arsed/not really wanting it anyway but got to be seen to do something type of way that it has.*
A bit like Putin and his gang being given the job of promoting democracy.
*Standard reply to any tedious, threadbare, gloating âBrexit aint workingââ type of Franglais post.
Brexit was implemented by Johnson Gov with a big majority. The Tory candidates were vetted to be sure they were of the âBrexit faithfulâ. Johnson said he was happy with his âoven ready dealâ.
Any suggestion that they were blocked or hampered is total and absolute rubbish.
They donât need to lie to you RR, you are already making lies up in your own head!
So long as new things keep happening I will keep on talking about them.
Looks like 6 months with no issues at all, but possibly a visa will be needed if staying longer.
(eu etc passport holders visiting UK)
At first glance it isnât clear if that is 6 months per year, or if the 6 months is per stay which can be renewed by a hop over the Channel?
I do know of some countries where a 6months vise is issued, and just leaving for one day and re-entering will reset the time. I do not whether or not the UK is one of these.
As we know Schengen, for 3rd country passport holders, is limited to 90 days out of 180 on a rolling basis.
Yes it can be complicated, for us we can move freely between Schengen countries but we are not supposed to stay in those other than our own resident one without an application for residency.
But the big advantage we have is that we can of course travel freely to the UK but also back again without showing a visa, just residency cards.
Whichever way you look at it though, it isnât as good as it used to be. Who would have guessed?
Trade must have been affected though. I no longer buy anything, except e-books, from the UK. Too much hassel with customs and not knowing till the postman arrives if there is anything, and how much, to pay.
Apparently a lot of people believed that if they voted for more unicorns, and rainbows with pots of gold, they would get more unicorns, rainbows and gold! Isnât that how democracy works?
Really? Badenoch was saying that we are doing really well.
Here is a fact checked version of her statementâŚ
But it isnât all money is it?
Badenoch also points out that because of Brexit the UK can now have permanent pavement cafes etc! I bet you donât get that in Euroland.
It takes naivety in the extreme to think that the Party that took us into the EU would take us out.
Ironically weâd be better off handing Gibraltar over to Spain and EU and Northern Ireland can go with em.
Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Scilly Isles?
I think that maybe @whisperingsmith would like Kernow to secede too.
Back awhile there was a call for UDI on the IoW.
Count Binface might have designs on London?
Although maybe Mayfair will be âliberatedâ by Putin, as the majority population is now Russian.
