Scania R & G spec

What’s the difference?

Ken.

The r series sits higher than than then G series, the G series is the same as the 4 series as to were the engine hump is as in a R series the engine hump is lower because it sits on higher cab mountings

From comparing the cabs on the G series they sit one or two inches lower over the engine, so there’s a slight larger hump in the floor inside the cab compared to the R series

Can’t see any other difference apart from that, why Scania have these two separate models I don’t know, seems like a waste of money, unless their just using up 4 series parts?

The difference is noticeable between the bottom of the grille and pull down step

I have an R420, and the other main wagon is a G420, I love the fact that due to engine hump being lower I can walk to passenger side and access the day bunk easily for changing boots etc and doing paperwork.

In the G it just feels a lot more cramped.

Oh and the G gets a cup holder, where as all I get is the 2 litre bottle well.

I drive a r420 and there is a holder next to the bottle well

Thanks guys.

One of our customers has the G spec, and on the whole I quite like them. Also the fact they have 2 bunks, which in a cab that size, is quite surprising.

Yes, the hump is a pain, and it could do with having a bit more pull as the engine is a bit numb, but I put that down to the fact they are Euro 6, but all in all, not a bad motor.

Ken.

I can see where it would be on mine, but the gaffer obviously didn’t spec it. Boo

You would expect something like that to be standard lol oh well

Me too. Luckily my thermal mug hangs a treat off the door closure handle

hi there I was wondering,i have a 2014 G cab and trying to find a blue engine cover and door cards for same,i can find R cab versions but nobody seems to do them for G cab, does anyone know of any sellers or will the R cab versions fit G cab, thanks

Our G series didn’t have side locker access from outside & the suspension didn’t seem as good as the R, maybe they were just specced like that.

The G series is the same cab they used on the 4 series

I drive a G cabbed rigid sleeper cab. The cab is lower mounted than a R series. That’s the only difference.
Not a bad lorry for 1 or 2 nights out a week.
