Scania P310 Running Rough

Hi All,
I have a 2007 5cyl P310 Thats running rough, billowing white smoke.
Its at the mechanic workshop, they said its cyl 1 & 3 that is causing the problem. All 5 cyl came back ok from a compression test, if they disconnect the injector from cyl 1 it makes no change at all (so that cylinder is not firing at all) and if they disconnect #3 injector it makes a difference but not as bad as a #2,4 & 5.

Am i correct in thinking that they have 2 crank angle sensors? could one of them be causing the injector problem?

They are going to swap injectors around tomorrow to test but i’m not confident that is the problem.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Nick

I’d have thought the injectors rather than the crank angle sensors. A knackered CAS would throw up an error code as the ECU would be getting readings from one and not the other, injectors on a 2007 less likely as I don’t recall there being any monitoring of how much fuel each injector is returning back to the tank as the injector system is quite rudimentary.

Might be worth taking all the injectors out, doing spray pattern tests, flow tests and leak back tests as chances are they’re all pretty unhealthy.

my van was running rough it turned out it had only 1 CAS but has 2 pipps on the flywheel edge and 1 of these had snapped off so the brain wasnt getting the right signal
