Scania 'Driving Score'

I come across this on the dashboard each time I have a newer Scania but take no notice of it usually. I believe it’s to do with the revs and braking you do whilst driving. A bit like the Isotrak thingy majig ! Anyway, does anyone bother with it or is it just a gimmic ?

I appear to be doing rather well !!!    :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Intuitive and easy to use, the Scania Driver Support system coaches drivers in real time with hints and feedback about driving style.
“Reaching a 100 percent score is very hard. But 60 to 70 should be within reach if you just follow the instructions,” says Jonny Andersson, Scania Driver Support development engineer

Obviously yours is broken:)

Yeah I love playing with this when I get the chance, but I am a bit of a geek when it comes to this. Preemtty easy to “trick” it into a good score even if you don’t drive that well but sure it’ll get better and better.

The higher the score , the better the fuel returns … simple !!!

The cheek !!! To be honest, after I took the pic it didn’t last long, I got cut up by a knob in a car and the braking went to 85% hahaha.

I’m not sure about the Scania scoring but the Isotrak scoring also is done on the revs, which ridiculously in a Scania makes it almost impossible to use the exhaust brake if you want to stay in emloyment with the company your on for as the computer shifts the gear down so the engine is running at really high revs, it never sounds good.

Surely that’ll be high revs with fuel consumption though that’s measured. Ridiculous if it give you a bad score when using the exhaust brake in the best way possible!

It knocks your score down when you leave the cruise control on as you climb an hill and then crest it as the revs stay on,it ■■■■■■■■ you for not releasing the throttle as you hit the top of the hill and then knocks your score down by 15points!
I reckon that pic was taken when you reset it!!! Lol

asda vehicles used to have the same sort of things installed in their cabs think it was a vimis or something it bleeped if it got over revved speeding over 56 harsh braking idle time.i followed a chap accross tebay one day and he stalled it as he didnt want to get a bleep :open_mouth:

that looks the same sort of thing but the trouble is they dont take into account things like you said being cut up etc etc and someone in an office will judge your driving ability on it :sunglasses:

To crest a hill successfully you need to come off the throttle early and crawl over the hill I have found it almost dangerous at times because you are slowing down far to much . I use it all the time and on certain journeys I have perfected the points on the road where to ease of the throttle , also using the engine brake before the foot brake also earns points , still you can’t always anticipate some clown cutting you up

Your right asda driver about the slowing down thing,I tried it once and thought this is way too dangerous.
I’ll try what you’ve said about the exhaust brake and that though, see if I can get it above my average of 65.

As you know, if you reset the score then it gives you a “-” symbol were the score is displayed and then it takes 5 minutes to give you your current average score !!! I was just impeccable

That whole coming off the throttle and rolling over the hill thing is so utterly ridiculous I completely lost interest in it. Just a silly gimmick.

I lost interest it it Luke when the bloke i’d overtook climbing the hill was,as I moved into lane 1 was suddenly up my arse flashing his lights on the downhill stretch!
Still live and learn I suppose.

I have something to fix all these displays,

I’ve got something better

I drive how I drive, if some computerised scoring system doesn’t like it then tough. The computer doesn’t tell the office how I bend over backwards helping people and doing a maticulous job when I’m at the store or in the yard. Or how big by bogie’s are when I pick my nose in traffic jams :sunglasses:

had one of these for a few months now , on my last shift I managed 100% , total bollucks though if you ask me . if you travel the same road often enough it becomes easy but I feel for the guy behind driving normally wondering what the pilluck in front is doing .

I have a Streamline demo this week & the cruise control works off the sat nav, as you hit the bottom of a hill it goes into power mode & on a crest of the hill it goes into eco mode & slows down. Twice this week i have overtaken someone just as it slows down making them to slow aswell.

Hmm, did I drive a different StreamLine? It doesn’t change modes by it self but you could set the minimum and the maximum speed it should work between. But i found it doesn’t really work perfectly and that I can save more by fuel by working just a little bit driving it in A instead of AE. But nice feature when you just want to relax and have the truck do all the work.

This is the one I drove. 620 grossing almost 50t at a 10% under water tunnel.

According to Scania you shouldn’t be able to get 100% on the points any other way than cheating. Think mine sits on 82% at the moment.

Welshdude:
total bollucks .

+1, drive how you see fit at the time.
