Scania 142

As a model maker I get asked to build all sorts but I’ve come up with a right odd one this time. I’ve been asked to build a 142.

But this 142 has an intercooler, and the intercooler front grille. In other words it slopes out slightly from the windscreen. Thats a 143 I hear you all cry!

Exactly. And nowhere can I find any info on a 142 with such a grille or an intercooler.

Can anyone shed any light on this. I’ve got photos and its badged up as a 142 alright.

Wolfie.

Hi mate i know you said you had photo but saw this pic and the grill

hope its of help

here ya go mate im taking this one to gaydon 142 intercooler

Cheers all, I got to the bottom of the mystery. It would appear that the last 4 or 5 years of 142 production had the intercooler fitted and thus had the ‘intercooler’ front grille.

Thats no problem cos I can fit an Italeri 143 grille to an Italeri 142 kit. Sorted!

Its how they stepped the power up to 420bhp. From a kit point of veiw a mix of 142 and 143 italeri kits should do it, handy as the 143 is available as current stock now as tow truck.
