I saw something strange today on the M42, well strange to me, never seen before…
A Landcruiser big 4x4 type thing, pulling a long trailer, An A-frame trailer, with Airlines, coming out of the bumper of the car. anyone seen these before ?

I saw this last week on the M6 near Brum, had two cars on the trailer!
Hope he had a tacho in
Might have been vacuum pipes if it was petrol engined. If it’s a diesel with no throttle butterfly, it’d need either an exhauster for vacuum brakes, or compressor for air. I reckon air would be highly unlikely, but possibly vacuum.
Could be used with agricultural type braking systems. Many modern tractors use hydraulic brakes, but can be converted to utilise air with a small compressor
Thanks for that Wheelnut but does it convert the car brakes to air aswell ?
(and thanks for backing me up Toowise thought I was seeing things)
For trailers with a GTM exceeding 2 tonnes (2.2 ton), the braking system must be capable of being applied from the driver’s seat - overrun brakes are not acceptable. In addition, the braking system must be such that if the trailer accidentally breaks away (from the towing vehicle), the trailer brakes will apply automatically and remain applied for at least 15 minutes’'."
i have a shogun with a train weight of just under 6000kgs…so could pull a trailer of this size…i guess the cruiser is similar…and yes it would need a tacho…if it was being used commercially.
Common practice over the pond.
Yeah, that is a 40’ container
Something like this?

Oh Ernetek there in the next village to me! Now yu wouldnt want to deliver to them in anything large!
As for tractors most europeon ones run air brakes, I used to make crop sprayers for a living and those exported to Germany had to have air brakes on as did one or two other EU countrys.
