Chateau Plastique, we used to call it Froggy.

I’m not one for wine, but at some Les Routiers, the wine was nicknamed “Chateau migraine” by some colleagues of mine.

A Bernard 4 TD with a cab made by Frappa. Art on wheels in my humble opinion.

Not much of these were made apparently, the Berliet TDLS and GDLS.

The Bernard is beautiful, and the 2nd one is , err, well matched to its driver.

I have long held the belief (suspicion) that our word ‘plonk’ for basic French vin de table might have come from the name Poulenc - the French chemicals company - and that the French would almost have certainly come up with that nickname first. Just a theory mind!!

Yes Patrick load of Simcas.

Cardboard wine casks were invented in Australia, where they are colloquially refered to as chateaux cardboard, or if filled with cheaper plonk, called goon.

Just to keep it legit, here’s a picture of a wine delivery truck.

The second should logically be a GDLK, the “K” standing for a front cabbed model. Indeed they were rare models, placed between the GDR and GDM in Berliet’s range.

and a Henschel engine.

All in one photo

Apart from the 3 lorries, there’s a Peugeot, Simca, D1, even a Land Rover, but whats the sports car ? is it a Facel Vegal…if it is, that was some car in its day.

I think your call of Facel Vega is correct, but is the driver making an extra lane for himself?

Is that a safari roof on the Defender?

And what is with the window(?) on the front of the yellow semi-trailer?

As you note, a lot going on in one picture.

(Is it a) Horsebox (perhaps)?

Extra characters bracketted for the minimum letters. :rage:

Looking again the rear doors seem to be barn doors rather than a ramp for animals? But a ramp could be inside.

Pure guessing…could it be a removals trailer, and that is the “crew cab”? What were the rules on passengers in trailers then?

Possibly Dave HK500? difficult to see

On reflection the Land Rover looks a bit odd, that or the way the photo is, just wondering if its the Spanish version which would account for the safari roof perhaps ?

Thought the same about the window in the trailer, like Spardo i think it maybe a horse box…

Chris, hope you’re well ? That’s the one, but a 2 door version.

Didn’t the owner of Botley Cleansing Services, just before Hedge End have one, i seem to remember a maroon Bristol and a dark Facel up there, but the memory is waining somewhat so can’t be 100% sure, it was 60 years ago
