I worked for Sanmar for about a year in the mid '90’s. I quite enjoyed it really but I wouldn’t run bent and eventually had a shouting match with Dean Moss (a proper smartarsed pillock) when he tried to force me to take a box to Felixstowe even though my driving time was nearly up for that day. The nancy-boy wouldn’t come out from behind that glass partition and discuss the matter man to man though :wink:

I walked out and got another job the very next day (with a more professional company).

The only bloke I remember is a fella called Howard Cutts, I think he was the union man wasn’t he?

TBH, there’s no wonder it went down, being run by 3 kids with no idea how to go on :unamused:

they packed it in about 1998ish when the ministrey was chasing them.
still having trouble showing these photos even though these were loaded throu photobucket i think the problem is with trucknet.

i know there are red x’s :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :imp: :imp: :imp: its this bloody trucknet sometimes it shows them sometimes not ive loaded them of msn when that didnt work ive tried it off photobucket and then it did but when i look again some show and some dont.

they were always running bent and i work at freightliner and our manager was telling us that f/liner had the police in just to watch sanmar coming and going with their times and this was going to be the sting of all stings they were really after them and just a few weeks before the trap sanmar closed up shop it didnt help the sanmar had off duty police and fireman working for them moonlighting.

yep jd, they was buggers, but the ministry didnt shut em down thats all i was trying to say, it went under before hand then went to silver birch i you remember with the 2 sons unning the outfit at newmillardam, and one of the sons now runs out of f/liner lds with is own motor? not on contract to f/liner mind, going to have tokeep my eyes out for you down at the funny farm you are at as in their every stinking day of the week myself :cry: :cry: , but it ait been to bad lately for queing has it, in fact you should know a guy who worked for sanmar down at yours, he was shift manager or something left for a week :open_mouth: , and came back to f/liner you know who i mean?? hes on the heavy lift normally now, :wink:

That pic outside Orwell House brings back memories jd,I lived just up under the bridge less than 5min walk.
Used to walk from my house to Goodways yard in 10min.

I had several 111 and 112 Scania’s during my time at Goodways (over 7 years)
but I was glad to get rid of the P cab’s with the tag axle.God they used to nod all the time and give you backache!
Oh! and a MAN,that was a lovely motor.
