Drove Freiday Morning with a Unit alone,with no trailer at all near me from Hanger Lane the North Circular to join M1.
Was an Artic nearly standing under the Arch Bridge,driving qhiet right to avoid damage to his Trailer and i by-passed him on the second Lane to join M1 via R/bout.
Well,passed them very slow,but hit down the Hammer as i’ve passed him to get over the Traffic Light as long as its Green,and,just as i have passed the Green Traffic Light did the Unit a Emergency brake on his own,completely unexpected to me,and much more surpricengly to the Artic who followed me,and who didnt expect that at all,as no other Vehicle was around or anything which could have been a Danger.

At Yesterday Neight,hammering hot 55 mph with another Artic the M1 North from London towards Northampton,when a Police Car and another Car stood on the Hardshoilder.
I kept in first Lane,but hanging right to give them Space till the one Officer turned around,just in Front of me,to go to his Driverdoor. I quick turned 20 centimeter right to give them more Space,with the Result that the Lorry made a Emergency Brake to slow me down to around 30mph. I was so shocked that i didnt look at the Speedo,as i expected someone hitting into my Back.
OK,Nothing bad happened,but
1.) Dioes the Brakklight come on,and,how do i check for that?
2.) Why does anyone think it is safe to do just everywhere out of the Nothing Emergency Brakes?
3.) We shall have the Name of that Person who let build such Systems into Lorries we drive to award them. (with a Black Eye perhaps)
4.) What,if someone hits into your Back who is then havely Injured or even killed,just as Vehicle had his own Mind?

I think he’s saying his brake goes on every time he turns his steering wheel. Sounds like an airline wrapped around his steering rack to me !!

i think the clue is in the op`s name “immigrant” ,however im willing to bet that his/her English is much better than my command of his /her native tongue. but like like the other two replies I too am also struggling to understand the question.
Seems pretty straightforward to me - he is querying the operation of the Vehicle Stability Control (that’s what our Dafs have at any rate) that takes over and cuts power, applies brakes etc if you over-cook it on a roundabout etc. He asks if it is normal for the thing to apply the brakes quite sharply and also asks if the vehicle brake lights light up when the system applies the brakes - in order to warn following drivers that your vehicle is rapidly slowing down,
I drove a new FM Demonstrator a few weeks ago, & if you get too close to the vehicle in front, it warns you then starts to apply the brakes, perhaps this is what Immigrant is talking about-

But,as Stability Control comes on at Cornering does the new come on just everywhere you dont expect it.
As no one goes zig-zag the Road along,it is usually just in emergency to change Direction sharp and by Speed.
I didnt care when a Full grown Deer jumped in my Way.Just stopped and phoned Police to come and shoot it,as it was heavy injured.
But,if a Person runs around a Car or Lorry,which is parked on the Hardshoulder i will do a quick relocating of my Vehicle towards second Lane,if no Lorry or Coach is there. And that happened which made the Lorry to slow that quick down that i hang helpless in the Seatbelt,not able to realise whats going on.
Now,as you hold your Distance behind the Vehicle in front of you,you will get closer when you have in mind to overtake them. Just imagine,you close up,look in right Mirror during switch indicator to overtake,and of the sudden the Lorry in Front of you slows in a few Meter from 85km/h to 50 km/h. You wouldnt have anywhere to escape. You may be lucky to go that far right to safe your Legs,but your Mate,or Passengers if you drive a Coach suffer by sure.
I rather would invest more in training Driving and,especially in loading Staff then risking life of others.
Well,i dont do our D-CPC Course for £30.- per Day,but do it for £84.- per Day. Had to explain it to our Manager and not just he accept that the Quality from CPC Trainer to another differs,and good Training can safe lot of Money.

well our DAF’s have the same thing its called a driver
In all honesty though I thought that sort of thing was on up specked trucks… and do find the question and his later reply hard to decipher.

As far as I know, our CFs and LFs are pretty basic spec and they all have VSC. They are all coming up for 5 years old. I thought it was standard equipment, TBH.

Vehicle Stability Control on Trailers either brake soft,middle or Hard. I know that.
The Units had a Week earliier nothing of it.
Now,the Cruise Control is on 85 km/h maximum. You follow me with 4 Second Distance but could travel 90 km/h
To overtake me you will come closer,look in Mirror,indicate,pull into second Lane and overtake me.
By traveling with 90 km/h (90000 Meter by 3600 Second) you will do 25 Meter by second. How long you need to check your Mirror? Half a second? Thats about 12 Meter.
Now you follow the Truck which has to swerve to avoid hitting a Person or running with his Front Wheel over anything which could blow his Front Tyre out ,and thems Lorry of the Sudden slows to 30 mph down.
30 mph or 50 km/h is ruffly 14 Meter a Second. How close you comming to overtake them? 20 Meter? If he slows down from 85 to 50 you still with 25 Meter/Second for 12 Meter till you have your Mirror checked,a Second till you apply Brake which is 25 Meter during the Lorry in Front is on 14 Meter/Second till Computer shifts Gear to pull on again.
Well,You could be on a 4 Second Distance and slow down in time so you dont hit them,if you see a Braklight,but the Lorry behind you may not and give you a Push.
Think we have to see whats the Future will bring. Also how long it will take till Companies tell Staff when and what they fit on theres Vehicles and what you have to deal with.

Sounds like a typical foreigner not able to drive for toffee imho.
You may be right,but that doesn’t answer the Question if Braklight comes on,and,why the Hell it does Emergency Brakes when traveling full Speed.
