Well there will be some sad faces at Argos , as I was going home yesterday I noticed their V8 topliner parked at AM commercials on the 62, I presume it’s off the fleet now and gonna be up for sale .
Just wondered why they bought such a vehicle , maybe a prize for the brown noser of the month award .wonder if it’s been replaced with an S730 next generation , ideal for pulling a 30 foot tandem axle with about 2 tons on it
It was used at magna depot when they first brought it as brown nose for the week lorry, then after magna closed if my memory serves me right it just used as a normal lorry at different depots. In the end the V8 ended up at Bridgewater until all the 63 plate Scanias were sold.
At the moment they are using rented high cab Merc’s then they will be replaced with ex Sainsburys fleet spec Merc’s and C.F. daf’s…no more V8’s
Speaking as an ex Argos now retired but still keep in touch with a few.My understanding is Argos no longer had “in house” Drivers jobs where contracted out to the likes of Wincanton DHL and Stobarts but vehicles remain in Argos colours.
Stobbies I believe where in Magna Park before it closed down, good chance it was a Stobbie vehicle not Argos

No Stobarts took over magna 2-3 years after Argos got it, it’s a 63 plate it was brought with a very large batch of p cab Scanias so guess they got it very cheap.
Many of these big third party logistics contracts are just glorified driver agencies, as the customer owns/leases the vehicles and warehouses, supplies the fuel and controls what the logistics can and can’t do.

I worked out of the Faverdale depot for a few months, my understanding was that DHL managed the driving but people were employed by Argos - I was agency so only there short term

Yes that is right, the equipment is owned by Argos, Wincanton /dhl run the transport. But now Sainsburys own Argos it gets more confusing
