If they were closer to home for me, I’d give it a try. I’ve often found that the more a company in any industry gets slagged off, the better I get on with them as I’m prepared to work hard and ignore the whingers. I was once told by somebody that the company I work for was dodgy and crap - but I’ve always been told to run 100% legal, been well respected, paid well and regularly and get mostly good work and also have a decent lorry to call my own - the only thing I’d like different is to head across the water every so often
Apparently where you live is not a problem. Pick up the truck and go. I’m sure Essex ain’t far from Dover for the boat!!!
ok replying to an old post but if i lived in staffordshire would that be a problem? i have somewhere to park truck for a small price
It may well of changed now but I drove down to S&K several years ago to talk turkey so to speak At the interview i was offered a job, trunking from wales to Belgium, had the wage been better i would of taken the job, as back then the basic wage was nothing to write home about, and the other based on what the truck earned put me of ,as what your truck could earn each week was more in their control than yours and also without any sort of guarantee,
And yes the motors i saw miling in & out where not new , but as long as they are clean, and are legal (roadworthy) and the company will get other problems repaired for example,a broken night heater or mirrors that don’t heat,or cab heaters that are full or nothing fixed , drivers air seat that doesn’t work as intended , all these may sound trivial, but if you are away living in said truck they should all work
Things that go down well with the bosses at s&k are tell tell tails split and making little storries up about other driver and being a s@@t stering little b@#$%ed
That is what andy and garath and the big boss man (sheep shagging hill billy) like to see (not hard work and getting the top bonuses every week)
The fitters are excellent at doing this

do any of the s&k lads know of the old guy that did Italy and used to stay over at macon, and hang his worn out washing from the truck and was always buying stick on chrome stripes for the cab of his volvo, I used to see him regularly but then moved to Swedish work, he was a lovely old boy but the last time I spoke with him he was away with the fairies, and some other regulars were concerned as well.
