Yet another crass comment from yet another crass ******

I run overseas all the time and won’t pay the ridiculous charges for internet connection over the water, if you’re willing to pay the extortionate fees that’s your prerogative, I, and many more like me, won’t. Absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with my employer.
And yes I do work for S&K. If I knew the OP I may have been able to respond as to how he was doing. but as I’m all over euro land I can’t keep up with all new drivers.

What annoys me is idiots who have no real idea of the truth about S&K as they are now, forget 10 + years ago.

Hello mate, back home then? If you’re in the yard in the morning I’ll let you buy me a coffee

Aye, home at mo’, pulling out in morning, got to be in Hilden germany for 15.00 tuesday, (hard life isn’t it) if you’re there when I am I might be able to find some spare coppers for a coffee, you know how poor the wages on S&K are

Well, I’ve been off for a week - so I’m skint  Got the keys, but no phone or fuelcard in the truck so have to wait for the office to come in…

Hello lads are S&K recruiting… I’m already out in Germany… wanting to do tramping work to and from UK - Germany - Europe.

Regards

Jay

Give them a call, Germany seems to be an obstacle for a lot of drivers, we don’t have OBU’s, so rely on toll collect terminals, lot of “drivers” cry shy of them, not sure why (drivers and screwdrivers ? )
Phone them and see, number is on the website, can’t remember it of hand, only need to press speed dial button normally

I think you will find that using the internet abroad theses days ain’t as expensive as you think 3 quid a day is what it costs me.
As for the crass comment,it was meant to be light hearted but hey ho!!
We have 2 ex s+k drivers were I work, well one now as one of them got the boot and one even pulled in our yard to fill out an application form and that was recently not 10+ years ago.
And what they told me and I mean all of them then best of luck to you fella.

Hello lads,
Having read some of the recent comments made on different sites not only this one. I don’t think that it will do any good bouncing ill comments around about bad companies, company policies, bad pay or the treatment of staff. We will all have heard about horror stories about different companies. I think the danger that these negative comments bring is that we turn this into a moaning forum when actually all it is about it networking people within the truck driving trade. Keep people in touch and provide helpful links from people with H.G.V driving experiences.

I don’t want to offend anybody by my comments because i’m new here and actively seeking advice and information about using my qualifications to the best I can. I don’t want to sound off out of turn. We need to take some of the comments made with a pinch of salt and put them down for humor but anything that can come across like a ■■■■■ should i feel be done in a private message to that individual. If i offend i apologise, i just feel that these sites are worth their weight in gold as long as they are respected.

I’ll now put on my body armor in case of in coming artillery lol

Jay

I always say unless you try it you will never know,
Just because it doesn’t suit some drivers doesn’t mean they are rubbish ,
Every driver on there I have spoken to seem happy with the job,
I know I would rather have a relaxed job like that and drive an older motor .

Snowstorm, it’s weekly paid Mate  Every Friday, without fail. Another plus in my book, coz I’m always skint and can’t find these £15 an hour/38 hour week jobs that the warriors on here keep going on about

Sarge you forget that brand new shiny Scania ,
If you tell the ■■■■■■■ the check out at sainburys that you drive one of those she will give you 50% discount of your shopping as we’ll .

I think any company that is offering employment opportunities to the professional driving community (or any other industry for that fact) is one that should be treated with respect and be seen in a positive light.

No where does the Job Description for a trucker entitle them to have their shoes polished by management as part of the job. Put up and shut up. If you don’t like the job, or your working beyond your shelf life you know where the door is and grab your coat on the way out, pick up the paper on the way home too so you got something to keep you occupied when you get there. :sunglasses: Take this route before you become toxic for the industry.

Yes, wages are low across the board, any industry any career. We all would like more. But to get more you have to take the risks. Without risks there are no rewards. And having your workload and tools of the trade provided to you by someone else is low risk in my books.

If you think you are good enough to earn more. Go alone, sign the papers for a lease on a truck and trailer. Then come back and criticise a company that is providing career opportunities within the industry. That’s called putting your money where your mouth is.

It is saddening to see the extent of the S&K bandwagon and how low it has gone…don’t forget when things are posted on the internet, they are there forever unless deleted or lost. Things like this can leave a long lasting mark.

Well said, Batmann. I’m thinking of taking a job with Stobarts, just to get some nice comments…

Reading the comments on what drivers say about s&k Reminds me of years ago when I started going over the water ,
I drove a seddon Atkinson 401 going out to Lille to load glucose every other day , it was funny listening to what other drivers was saying about the truck and company I was working for on the cb , but what always made me smile was knowing that they was on a similar wage to me and I was getting 12hrs sleep every night not like them only having 4hrs kip because they pulled there card before the ferry crossing .

There seems to always be 2 schools when it comes to S and K those are

  1. The ones who slate them but have never actually worked there, so only go on mmtm rubbish

  2. The ones who ACTUALLY work there and enjoy their job.

Well there is also a 3rd school.

Those that have worked there and left. Like me. I enjoyed my time there and it was the EASIEST job I’ve ever had. Unfortunately at the time I had certain financial commitments and my wages didn’t quite meet those commitments.

If money wasn’t such an issue at the time I would never have left. Like I said very easy work with zero pressure from the office. I sometimes wondered if they had shut down and disappeared in the night because I never heard from them. No trackers, no phone calls no hassle.

Would I go back? I would if I needed a job.
