You mentioned Joe Jiggins, he went on to work for Falcon Roadways out of Rotherhithe after Hiltons & stayed with them until it was bought out by MJD, Falcons was started by Hedley Jaune, who I believe was something to do with HTS. There were a few old HTS boys on Falcons, they were always reminiscing about it, one was Tony Furnieux, the others I can’t remember at the moment.[/ I think J & H Transport was named after two geezers, one called Jeune and one called Hedley IIRC but I will stand corrected in the face of “superior” cockney knowledge! I don’t know about that Dennis, but Falcons were all ex HTS men when I was there :wink:

Another firm i remember from my time in East London was Trans T. Their yard was near Blackwall Tunnel, i hav’nt seen them mentioned on here yet.

Ive just remembed another one…Ramhill from Silvertown ( i think ) and had Mercedes 1418s with fridge trailers. They were later bought out by A & RJ Wood from Sittingbourne Kent. Ive got some photos somewhere.

Here are a few old S.E London firms, Dawsons of Southwark street , W Boulter and sons 39 Clements road Bermondsey and Fred Cook who had a depot in Shand street and Toolet Street. The vehicles are AEC Mammoth Major, Semi forward control 6 wheel Ford and Armstrong Saurer
