Ruts/Grooves in the Road

Anyone else notice these getting worse in some parts of the motorway network
Driving along happily next your truck is like Bambie on ice esp my Axor in the wet
Does my head in

Why bother fixing them, would cost the government too much money and we all know how much like love their money.

Theres a hole in the a1 near the tractor dealers at wentbridge going south ,its been there years and they just fill it in now and again ,you can tell its bad because theres oil drips on the floor near near it as it shakes the lorry to bits

try it in a 7.5 tonner like steering a shopping trolley on an ice rink as it trys to climb in and out of the ruts

Find it worse when you come from the second lane back into the first, gently moving over then it just pulls you in!! Don’t half get my nipper twitching :open_mouth: as for pot holes on regular runs I know where they are and usually avoid em!! Usually

I bet livestock lads know about it when they have got load of animals moving about on the top deck :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

All they do with the pot holes nowadays is draw chalk outlines round um.

If you think it feels bad in a truck try a motorbike!

Pompey end of M27, both directions…

Its watching the triple deck car transporters getting a sway on gets me :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Going from lane 2 back to inside lane as said already especially on the M6 southbound near Warrington gets ur adrenaline going especially when ur tired

Did we have severe rutting when the max was 38T, or even 32T ? Seems odd that now we’re almost all on “road friendly” air suspension things seem to be getting worse. Or, maybe the road contractors are skimping on the materials, there’s been tales on here by guys shovelling (or spreading) to withing a few millimetres of surfacing.

M5 j13 N just before slip road & M5 j17 Southbound just by the slip road

Coming down the hill towards Shap northbound right on the bend :open_mouth: every time

It’s the material they use now. Enviro friendly crap less wear & tear on the tyres etc. plus the skimming from the company’s that do the work. How long have some back roads lasted without having to b repaired. I’ve seen roads that have nothing wrong with them being relaid then the road is f—ed after it.

I think it has got worse since everything went over to singles, we now have more weight on 6 tyres than we we used to have on 8, and twins spread the load out more accross the width

The motorway ruts don’t bother me in the lorry as much as they do in the pick up n trailer .

I bet some of the deep ruts are awkward Dan

I know a lass that loves getting in the groove

It was 32 ton in my day over there, but there wasn’t nearly as much traffic either.
