I made 3 trips to moscow in 1994 for currie european with compaq computers

Ooh, a couple of us stopped to help a driver from Currie European about then, on the St Petersburg-Moscow highway iirc, his truck had frozen up and he had no proper winter clothing, he was wearing trainers and was almost frozen, we put him in one of our cabs to warm up and got his motor running, I seem to remember he was a slightly built Irish lad in his late 20’s?

That’s a good idea, but re the train change over in Moscow: You’d be well advised to employ the services of a fixer to help you change trains

Eh?! She’d be changing trains in a European capital city mate, not buying weaponry or making a Michael Palin style documentary :unamused:

Yes, all you need to do is get on the Metro and look at the map.

It’s a slightly different shape to the London Underground map but the principle is the same. I have probably ridden on over 50% of this network. All of the main line stations are connected by the circular brown line.

I don’t know if it is the same now but what used to make it even easier was that the trains used to be painted in the colour of the line- the equivalent of London tube trains being painted yellow on the Circle Line, blue on the Piccadilly Line etc so you knew if you were on the wrong platform.

You definately don’t need a guide.

Double post, deleted.

Hi Malay57, welcome along.

I may have been wrong about it being a Currie European driver, it was all a long time ago and the memory does tend to play tricks.

Any memories or photos are welcome!

Have to just confirm what the others say, please don’t post in capital letters, for us old people IT HURTS OUR EYES

Fantastic station architecture, you could spend a day on the moscow metro just taking in the style and decoration. much better than the london underground

Me too, Orys. My favourite time of year…

People here think I am strange because of this…

But I was just bring down rapidly by the great British drivers…

They were all driving on each other’s bumpers, doing 20 mph on the middle of lanes 1 and 2 at M74 and when I overtook them doing 40 mph on right lane, they were flashing and honking at me to show that I am crazy… One idiot even tried to stop me by turning right in front of me… :unamused:

Amount of idiots spining wheels at 1st gear and driving with a huge snow mountains on the roofs, which suddenly falls on their windscreens when their brake, or guys with no lights visible is appaling.

Meantime, in Germany, only day later… About 3 times more snow, everyone are doing steady 80 km/h at all three lanes of motorway…

But when I came back today, I did a small spin around empty industrial estate - first in my sprinter, then in my own car. Yes, I can say it again: I LOVE it

Happens in the US too. You should hear them cussing when we steam past them on the limiter while they poke along at 30mph…

Had blizzards all the way from Winnipeg almost to Bismarck, and drifts a couple of feet thick on the interstates… Great stuff…
