Russell Davies Group Pension Scheme

Not sure where to post this, hope it’s OK here. I’m trying to trace pension benefits accrued with the Russell Davies Group Pension Scheme between 1981 and 1986. The company was sold to Securicor, the administrators of the Securicor pension scheme have no info and have suggested that not all Russell Davies pension benefits were taken on by the Securicor scheme. I can’t trace any contact info for the Russell Davies scheme, does anyone out there have any info for this at all?

Thanks in anticipation.

Have a word with Lee @ Hanbury Riverside [01708 866187], this outfit is owned by Glyn Davies, he might give you the right number to ring

My mum worked for securior, and I’ve tried to trace her pension using the trace facility, unless you know the exact name of the secheme, you won’t have much luck, the reason is securior, split all the company’s up moved everything about so many times, it’s abloody nightmare, and the company’s that administer them now are not very helpful, even when you give them ni numbers etc.

As it happens I’m trying to trace a pension from the mid eighties and I’ve been put intouch with the HMRC through a third party.
Might be worth giving them a bell.

Securicor Omega Logistics was bought by Deutsche Post and the name changed to DHL. They could be worth a try.

Thanks to everyone who has replied - just so you know, the Pension Tracing Service has given us some details, as far as the DWP is concerned there is some pension benefit there (Guaranteed Minimum Pension £20 pw) and they give Capita as the Securicor/G4S scheme administrators who insist they cannot find anything, even with the Scheme name and number, SCON and ECON numbers, NI number, DOB, full name.

I’ve been in touch with Hanbury Riverside, I have an email address for someone who may be able to help, if I get anywhere I will post info here in case it helps anyone else.

JLT also deny all knowledge, they are no longer administrators for the scheme, they say try Capita. Another dead end!

The Hanbury Riverside and DHL contacts have also drawn a blank - everywhere leads to a dead end!

Did you get anywhere with this? I’m pretty much at a loss as to where to go now, DWP suggests there’s a benefit but nobody seems to know where it might be now!

Did you try DHL? My previous neighbour worked for all three Companies and I don’t think he had any problems with his pension.

yep, tried DHL, they have nothing.

Mystery solved! Having left a voicemail at the G4S (Securicor Section) a couple of days ago, to my surprise I’ve had a call back.

I should say at this point I am an IFA trying to help a client find this money, and the lady from G4S said that perhaps the benefit had been transferred but the GMP record had never been deleted, so the DWP/Pension Tracing Service/HMRC thinks it’s still there. This led me to checking some old personal pensions that this client had, and the insurance company confirmed that money was transferred in from Russell Davies to a Protected Rights policy - Protected Rights is the personal pension version of GMP, so that’s where it went.

If anyone out there is finding the same problem in tracing benefits from this scheme, probably the first place to check is old personal pension plans with “Protected Rights” benefits in them, and speak to the insurer to ask which scheme the money was transferred from.

The reference in the Pension Tracing Service correspondence to Capita in Leeds is because apparently that branch of Capita is currently performing a reconciliation of GMP benefits for G4S - which I take to mean that they are trying to find out who does have benefits and who doesn’t - but the branch of Capita that actually looks after the scheme is in Sheffield (I think it’s Cutlers Gate) so the people we have previously spoken to at Capita were not really the right dept anyway.

Thanks to everyone who responded, much appreciated, and I hope that what I have found might help one or two others to find out what happened to their benefits.
