RT KEEDWELL Highbridge

Whey not try Morrison’s or a bit further up the road to Avonmouth where you can have any job you like.

It all comes down to one simple equation, for profit=dogs life.

I drove through Strensham southbound services the other day and there was a 69 plate Scania of theirs parked up so maybe they could be changing the fleet possibly

I don’t know how to look at PM

This may help…

Here’s a pic of the top left of your screen:

That’s where you can access your PMs, the number on the left shows how many PMs you have.

I hope this helps.

Trucking sideways:
So they expect you to tramp put all week, with no fridge? Fine in winter but what about summer? the cost of running one on the truck must be negligible and save what, a couple of hundred on the initial cost of the truck.

[zb] like that says it all about how they feel towards their drivers. Skimping to save a little bit of cash when a fridge would make all the difference to a drivers comfort in the summer. Only one thing for it, buy your own and run it off an inverter and keep the truck on tickover through the summer months

Exactly, that attitude towards drivers stinks. Complete twobob cowboy outfit
that only a desperate chump would work for. All my personal opinion of course having never worked there but spoke with people who have.

It’s always easy to be disparaging about others from the sidelines. I know, I’m guilty of it myself. But I will call the company that is rubbish, rubbish. But I wont call a driver who works there, a chump just for that. You dont know why somebody works, or needs to work somewhere.
As for Keedwell, they’re not a “twobob cowboy outfit”.
No, they dont spec fridges. Yes, that is a bit petty. But that doesn’t make them a cowboy outfit. They pay what’s average for their areas (or a bit more), what else do you expect? I’m not aware of them querying hours booked, or breaks taken , a d the money is in the bank, without fail. The trucks are craptros, but legal. Nobody is expected to run with defects, or bend. Parking is paid for, no expectation of drivers spending four nights in laybys or industrial estates without facilities. Left alone to do the job. If you run late, and call, all is well. They’ll call you I’ve you’re running late without telling them.
I realise that I come a cross as a fanboy, but I’m not. I just have worked for them all. Little family hauliers (including the full card carrying cowboys), big blue chip ‘logistic providers’, a bus company, and they all have their pro and cons. In the end, it’s what you make of it.
Yes, I enjoyed working for Savilles out of Longwell Green. Small family haulier. Good atmosphere. New XF Super Space Cab (with fridge… :grimacing: ). Easy work. But, 5 days away, regular Saterday running in. No parking paid, unless load a d customer required it.
Now I’m home 4 days every 8, I earn almost what the 5 days a week boys earn, and I’m happy.

Conor (or Winseer, I get confused) want £500 take home, for three or four shifts a week. I have that, but without the daily commute…
He loathes nights out, or anything other than trunking. I loath doing the same job, every day.
I bet, I’m happier than he is.[/quote

A bit petty ? I would say its more than a bit petty that to not spec a fridge in a trampers truck its outright penny pinching. do you think Mr Keedwell doesnt have his food in a fridge throughout the week ? I take the rest of your points on board but that fact alone makes them twobob IMHO

Yeah, I see your argument, but on the other side, does mr. Keedwell pay for his own fridge in his home? I’m sure his accountant (or the taxman… :grimacing: ) won’t let him write off his home fridge as a ‘works expense’. I can with my mobile fridge that I bought to use in the truck…

Just make it clear, I think all trucks should come with a fridge, it’s a relatively small expense to make your employee feel a bit more appreciated. But like all workplace employee benefits, all companies try to get away with as little as possible.

Plenty of food for thought

Thank you all

I’m in regular contact with Dee Keedwell and waiting for a 4o4o shift to come up

I spoke to the guy I used to work with who was there for a few months, he said they were expecting him sometimes to have a 4th night out (and run in on the 5th day) without notice

I will make it clear to them from the get go that this is not an option whatsoever

HobNobRoy:

Well, it’s not just “petty”, it shows a complete and total lack of respect for drivers who they expect to be away all week in a truck for them.

They keep trucks for what? Three or four years? And speccing a fridge on a brand-new truck would cost them one week’s profit out of that?

I wouldn’t work for them. If others are less discerning then that’s their prerogative.

As a 4on-4off driver for Keedwell, let me tell you…

I’m back every week on the fourth day, because that’s what we do, and because the other driver needs the truck. Likewise, so is he, because the truck needs to be there for me. There are days, where things dont work out, or where the planner ■■■■■ up. We occasionally run in on the fifth day, but it’s rare, and never planned. Neither me or my oppo would stand for it.

You are entitled to your opinion Harry. You also used to sub for Gregory…
Personally, I would not ■■■■ on Gregory if they where on fire, and I could ■■■■ petrol. And I worked for Gregory, as an employee…

Not the same since old man Keedwell shuffled off. I agree with the previous poster that son is a kn*b though Dee is OK most of the time

Are they part of the EV Cargo group now? I know NFT and NR Evans went that way with Downton and I do see Downton artics pulling Keedwell trailers and vice versa so that might that be the case?

Downton and Keedwell have been running a big contract together for years, and have an understanding to use each others trailers if necessary.

the nodding donkey , which depot of Gregory`s did you work at ? How were you treated by the planners , and their booking of a re-load , when you are still tipping four or five drops , then miss the booking time for the re-load , then blame the driver ?
Trailers with no internals , no support after office hours or speak to the night staff , who do not what is going on ? Doing locals in the morning , using up work and drive time for a long run up North for a 6 am booking the next day , with running out of secure parking as they are full by 18.00 .
Pay or night out money missing ?

I’m seeing mostly positive stuff

They’ve recently leased a number of new, mirrorless Mercs!

Quick sign me up, a mirrorless craptros with no fridge, all i need to pimp it up is a Kevin Phillips shirt on the passenger seat and some tassles on me curtains

In all honesty they don’t sound too bad the way they leave you alone, paid parking, not basement levels of pay, so I can’t understand the logic with not having a fridge for the trampers.

Give them a blast OP if you don’t like them leave. Personally the lack of fridge shows contempt for drivers comfort so it’d count me out. Even the Ivecos at a place I used to work at that didn’t have trampers, they would send out a van with a new driver instead of nights out, they even had fridges !

I can only assume that the guy is new to the haulage industry.

Me or the guy I was using as an example?
