I often see a Parcelforce artic coming into Norwich, driving like an idiot.
Please give more details as I would like to know what an idiot drives like.
Also he is getting paid twice what you are getting Andy.

Hello Kindle, it has been a while since I was last on!

If you were to question that driver, they would say that their 318 determines that they needed to go at that speed to arrive at their next destination on time. The 318 (running sheet) rarely has any flexibility, so you will often find these drivers trying to catch up on lost time. The driver you are referring to works out of Coventry, as there are duty revisions going on you might find a new driver going into Norwich
RM donāt have transport offices where managers can make decisions, they have to stick to set plans which are set days in advance. Only CPC (Central Postal Control) have the power to deviate a driver off their scheduled planned duty.

Has anyone ever heard of a company taking action for speeding by tacho evidence alone?I was told that a recent O license inspection for a company on a main single carriageway road resulted in a warning by the TC that if the start and end of the shifts didnāt start more closely reflecting the speed limits then this would affect the O license liability score, or whatever itās called. There are no dual carriageways or motorways for miles so it is (in this case) fairly easy to see how fast the drivers typically go. I have noticed this companies trucks doing 45 not 56 on the A7 now so it might even be true!
IIRC a large haulage concern from Wimblington Cambs had a similar sort off action put against them about 10 years ago, effectively a circumference from the yard was taken, in which there was no Motorway or Dualcarriageway, and the Vosa ecspected not to see any speed in exccess of 40 mph. I believe this is not that unusual
If the operator has one depot then maybe. RM has many and several are right by motorways so within 2kms itās 60 mph limits.

Pay does rise after 12 weeks to 16.26 p/hour nights if any 3 hours are worked between 11pm and 5am. Lots of different rates for different times. To expand on this, there are various rates depending on the duty times, this is a way they compensate for NDA (about £90 per week for full timers)
Hereās how payroll is calculated for each of the 7 pay rates after youāve completed 12 weeks of qualifying work (AWR), plus the overtime rate
Duty Ended between 21:40 and 01:59 = £15.24
Duty Ended between 20:00 and 21:39 = £14.64
Duty Started between 02:01 and 04:00 = £14.82
Duty Started between 04:01 and 05:00 = £14.47
Duty Started between 05:01 and 05:30 = £14.28
Duty Ended after 02:00 (regardless of Start Time) = £16.26
Duty Started after 05:30 and Ended before 20:00 = £14.09
All Hours above 36hrs 15mins = £16.83When on AWR rates, there are no increased weekend or bank holiday rates
During your 12 weeks of qualifying there are enhanced rates for Sunday workHowever, it must be noted that this is for Class 1 work only, there are separate rules and rates for Class 2 work and working out of mail centres. Mail centres do recognize weekend and bank holidays, so itās possible to get a higher hourly rate than class 1 for doing 7.5 tonne work (7.5 tonne and 18 tonne are both classed as Class 2 for the purposes of pay rates)
RM are in the process of duty revisions, day duties are getting massively slashed
Duties starting between 3am and 5am are getting increased
Donāt forget the pay rise they also had to endureā¦
Duty Ended between 21:40 and 01:59 = £15.24 - NOW = £16.18
Duty Ended between 20:00 and 21:39 = £14.64 - NOW = £15.53
Duty Started between 02:01 and 04:00 = £14.82 - NOW = £15.73
Duty Started between 04:01 and 05:00 = £14.47 - NOW = £15.36
Duty Started between 05:01 and 05:30 = £14.28 - NOW = £15.16
Duty Ended after 02:00 (regardless of Start Time) = £16.26 - NOW = £17.26
Duty Started after 05:30 and Ended before 20:00 = £14.09 - NOW = £14.96
All Hours above 36hrs 15mins = £16.83 - NOW = £17.85
Itās the puddle jumpers that seem to fly about.

thereās 4 different types of DD trailers and they range from 75 yorks (metal cages) to 110 yorks (the longer semi-trailers) they also do 92 and 98 York versions. A York can carry 28 trays of letters and each tray can have over 100 letters in each one.

+1 !
Im pretty sure those 7.5 tonners operate through the night, can anyone shed any light ? I go to work between 1am and 3am and see a convoy of them all flying down a 30mph road at 40mph+ all going back into the depot.
Few years back family member did some work for RM from there Wolverhampton Hub on nights, great rates of pay (canāt remember how much) job was a piece of cake, just trunking back and forward to the depots.
I donāt know myself but i presume its either trailer swaps or back on a bay ? (correct me if Iām wrong )

I suppose they go the local sorting offices and then back to the main.
I guess VOSA donāt bother with them much.
Almost 24/7 in the evenings collecting customer work and then through the night and early morning taking to work from the sorting office to delivery offices.

Sorry poor grammar. They run pretty much 24/7. In the afternoons and evenings theyāre collecting work from customers and local sorting offices. Through the night and early morning itās taking it back to delivery offices.
Nicely corrected, sir. All hail the power of the dot!
