Hi kris86,

I’ve moved your topic to the forum in which it can best be discussed.

Way in is through agency then apply through website if any vacancies come up.
Basic from 26k to 30k (depending on which area of the country you live) for a 36.15 hour week. Anything over 36.15 paid by the hour plus area living alowance and shift allowance. Breaks deducted (up to 90 minutes) uniform paid and pension. Paid monthly for HGV staff.
Can earn 35k + per year.

my mates on for RM at Crick…on good dough, but ALWAYS moaning about the shift patterns and runs :unamused:

Things will be changing, but If you really want to get in, the best way in is internally. Get in as a Postman, you might have to take a drop in pay? Their pay is around £20,000 for a 38/39 hour week (Sorry, not been a Postman for a few year’s) which includes paid breaks.
I know a Postman who earn’s over £35,000 but is working 6 day’s a week for that.
For class 1 the pay is the same throughout the country £27,957.96 for a 36.15 hour week. Breaks not included.
The London boy’s and girl’s are paid more because of Weighting.
As m1cks say’s …£35,000 is EASILY achievable.

They’ll soon be wearing DHL or Amazon uniforms…

This alway’s makes me laugh.   :unamused:

they were recruiting nationally for lgv drivers a short while ago.

Iam a mechanic for them, be gentle lol, but depending on the site, then agency is your way in, if there any vacancies after xmas you may be in with a chance to get pernament, but be wary of fixed term contracts.

basic is around 27k, you can be on a 24 hour shift pattern. up here in scotland there are a few distribution hubs and airports we run from.

OT can boost earnings massively, no overnights though!

The max overtime available on duties for drivers these days is 11.75 hours a week. Only the very senior drivers get duties that cushy. I’d just been picked out of a similar one just before I left, and the pay cut for picking into something with no docket built into it is a lot lower… Think taking home £500 a week one minute, and down to £350 a week after one of the all-too-regular “re-signs”.

On Agency, you’ll get to cover a senior driver’s duty whilst they go on leave - so yes, the £34k is achievable.
As a full-timer, you’ll probably only get to pick into a rigid duty, and these pay a lot less than C+E, but still quite well compared to what other firms pay their rigid drivers.

All in all, I reckon “on contract” via agency is about as good as it gets at Royal Mail. Cushy, well-paid duties available pretty much from day one, instead of having to work towards them over many years as a full timer… :bulb:

not sure about drivers but for mail sorters in Crick 7 years first 10 hours overtime everyweek was paid for extra rate, but but after less money

And those first 10 hours is time + 15% (1.15) I think?

Not knocking it mind you, their basic is more than my overtime rate!!

Many thx for anwers i just started work in Coventry hub i hope not finsh on end of peak time;)

Oh dear. Avoid that place like the plague.

parcelforce - coventry isnt that bad been to far far worse places.

Why is so bad place■■? they pay realy good money if compare with other offerts in West midlands area which usually 11-12 pounds p/h

Just personally can’t stand going there. Miserable shunters, closing down bays late, miserable canteen staff …

What you have written is completely different to what goes on at my office.
If you have a class 1 and you pick a set that has some class 2 work, you get paid the same amount no matter what you drive, even on overtime.
I work late’s on a 6 week rota. I put my name down for 3 extra day’s on overtime in that 6 week rota.
Including the overtime built into the duty, I will earn just over £40,000 this financial year, if I continue to get the 3 extra day’s every 6 weeks.

I agree. As far as I’m aware Royal Mail dont employ Class 2 drivers. They either have Class 1 or 7.5 categories. You may find class 2 drivers driving 7.5t lorries but they will work for the distribution side of the company not logistics.
Where you get 11.75 as max overtime for a week I dont know. A lot of the Royal Mail stuff you comment on is from your recollection from one office a few years ago. Although mostly true you are sometimes wide of the mark.

most 600 drivers (7,5t) do it on a car licence, passed pre 97. but still get a good wage for it.

They are classed as professional drivers (ha i know)

40k is definately achievable as i know a few drivers in our depot, who earn that sort of money, by the time you get basic pay, scheduled attendance, any allowances, built in overtime etc etc it does mount up.

Been working at royalmail Hwdc via manpower for the past 2.5 years taking home between £600/750 depending on my shift for the week. I missed the first Recrutment about a year back as I was on a RM ban, 2 months ago royalmail advertised jobs internally for the regular agency staff not every one got an interview , 11 jobs and 62 applicants, last Friday I got the email offering me the job, happy days …
