Each to their own chap
It was not necessary as each load was set back and just as easy not to cover headboards
Please note no flysheets either

Harry,
Is that to keep the floor dry, or do you have another reason?
Phil.

Hiya,
It’s something I always did a loaded trailer always looks better when the lot is covered
plus a lot of the traffic was handball and a dry floor was a must, wet deck no load the
sheet can be gotten really tight even with a load not needing to be up to the head-
board most of us “ancient” hands always did it that way much neater in my view.
thanks harry, long retired.
You are ,of course, quite right “H” that it was much tidier to sheet over the headboard and here is a shot of one of our motors loaded with 18 pallets of Libby rice or milk which would be 20ton on a 40footer.Even though the load was clear of the deck and of any rain on the floor we still covered the headboard.Although a lot of our woodpulp traffic wasn’t sheeted over the headboard unless it was a lighter grade and therefore there was more bales for 20ton and it was more-or-less up to the headboard.Keep the standards up “H”,don’t let them lower them eh!.Cheers Dennis.
Harry,
This is why we didn’t sheet the headboard on this one.
As the headboard’s not full width and the corners are cut off the floor, we went for the easy option.
Phil.
The REAL reason H always covered the entire trailer was that he wanted to hide the rust and the muck.
You should know by now that Harry had an aversion to hosepipes and paint brushes!
