Roll Call of long standing TN Members

Apparently I joined in 2011. I can’t say that I’m a long-standing member cos when I’m on here I’m sat on my hairy arse. Make of that what you will.

'‘I’m sat on my HAIRY arse’
TOO much information mate.:joy:

I’ve been on here since 2007 btw, I was driving the truck on my avatar at that time for Harry Vos.

Define long term. I don’t think I qualify.

Full disclosure or go home

If you don’t qualify then… I’ll see myself out

April 2005 for me, though I’ve taken a few sabbaticals in that time.

Carryfast hasn’t been seen since Harry married Meghan Merkin. He thought it unfair that she went off with a Ginger Royal. He couldn’t have his mother and he wanted a go on Megs

Well there’s another blast from the past, where’ve you been hiding, or was it me?
You still in Melbourne or back in, where was it, Hull? :grinning:

David, good event! I met up with an old flame, she is from York but works in Hull. We got married in 2019 I left Melbourne about 2016

Jim Barker from these forums did our wedding photos. I haven’t been able to sit on Trucknet as much, we watch soaps hand in hand now and drink Yorkshire Tea. Pleased to hear you are still around. Are you still dogging?

I hope you mean transporting them. The answer is now and again but not often and no more nights away. Covid coincided with me feeling it was getting time, though I did do one trip to Italy in the middle of it all.

My wife was very ill for many years and she died last June and, as if losing her was not enough, the 4 times a day ladies from the 2 nursing aid organisations stopped instantly. The French health service is a life saver and it didn’t cost a penny. I am paying a little bit back now by visiting the best one of a very good lot because she has been struck down with cancer.

Fortunately I have 2 dogs and a lot of friends in the village, mainly old men, but also ladies of a certain age, so plenty of companionship and I will soon be out cutting a mean rug at the The Dansants. :joy:
I need a bit of that to get me fit again, a bit doddery now, and on Monday while walking the dogs I tripped and fell head first 2 metres down the vertical bank into the river, which was fast flowing but only a couple of feet deep. Banged my head on the rock bottom, lost my phone and both hearing aids as well as hat and bag with dog treats in. I reckon they’ll be in the Bay of Biscay by now.

Nice to see your name again, I don’t see as much here as on the old forum so wasn’t sure which of us was absent.

Pleased to see you’re making a go of it though, bracing your back no doubt against that east wind off the sea.

Morning all… well, I’m still around too… and apparently I joined TN waaayyy back on the 1 Nov 2003!! Wow, that was a looong time ago…

I’ve been lurking around for a while since the forums changed but havent posted.

And there are still some names I recognise on here from back in the day… So I thought I would just pop on and say Hi… :+1:

Hi and welcome back-the more the merrier as they say.

I am scared opening some of these forums now when you discover younger people than us are hanging up their keys with St Peter. I still think back of some of the great banter and battles over the years. Bullets to Bulgaria. Hino Cement Mixers. Volvos with huge powerpack generators. burnt down houses, fake claims and scams. What next, they will be driving electric lorries!

Keep the wheels on the black bits.

Indeed they are, I saw one just down the road, a big Renault with a curtainsider trailer emblazoned with the words ‘all electric vehicle, 100% green’. I saw it twice, the last time in a factory near me but I didn’t have time to ask the driver how he liked it. Glad I wasn’t about to cross the road though, I never heard a thing. :astonished:

You’ll have to re-engage that part of your brain that was alert to Nottm City Transport trolleybuses in the '50s & '60s

Oh yes, but it wasn’t me who had his winklepicker toes squashed it was my friend’s Dad.

Winklepickers now that’s a flash from the past

They must have been extreme ones too because the bus ran over the tips without touching his toes.

What, a bit like the ones that elves wear?
