Spardo:
I think some are being a bit hard on Steveo. He asked a perfectly sensible and interesting question and got a perfectly sensible and interesting answer. Unfortunately the answer left a wide open door to a humourous comment, which duly appeared. So what’s wrong with that?
I am interested in the Rockets’ progress but am not above a bit of humour now and again, strikes me it doesn’t take much to make some people kick off.
Of course, as I don’t read or participate much in here these days (mainly because of the previous sentence), I am not aware of Steveo’s hinted at previous form, but on this occasion I think the reaction was misplaced.
That wasn’t humour that was a cheap shot below the belt jibe coming from pond life.

Whoops. Guess that’s the end of this thread then.
Couldn’t have a better reminder of why I don’t come here often these days.
Hi David, I and I am sure many others, have missed your interesting comments and views over the last few months .
I have been meaning to P.M. you to see if you were O.K. but I thought that you and The Bear might be engulfed in a new book. I have always agreed with 99% of your posts but on this one I must disagree.
I have never met the The Rockets and I always admire people who work hard to try and improve their standard way of life.
I have also met a few gloaters with smiley faces and to be honest David, they give me the Z.B.'s

David, I just get so hacked off at people sitting waiting for what they perceive as another failure just so they can have a go
Well thanks for the nice words Glenman and Mushroomman, and the restraint from attacking my criticism from Davelol66. (I did research some of your posts Dave and didn’t expect any other than your moderate response ).
As I said, not coming here often and only checking a few specific forums when I do I am not aware of Steveo’s ‘previous’ and so took his comments at face value, which didn’t lead me to believe that he had an axe to grind or another agenda. If he did, well, perhaps that goes someway to explain the rather bitter reaction to him. I’ll leave it at that.
Since you ask Steve, I am working on a full length novel which carries on from the end of the well received short story ‘Stowaway’ which ended somewhat in the air. It is likely to be a long job, surprisingly I am finding myself plenty to do here (haven’t even played petanque for months) but when it finally hits the presses you will find a dedication to yourself in it. It was a comment by you that set me thinking about the plot. BTW the clock is not still ticking, it gave up the ghost some months ago. That is just one more job on the ‘to do’ list.
One of the major plotlines in it involves a spectacular breakout from Gradignan prison in Bordeaux (I might sell just that bit to lorry drivers still loading back pottery from Spain for future use ) and described it to a retired gendarme mate of mine who lives nearby. He laughed uproariously at the mere thought and I promised to show it to him. Only trouble is that involves translating the whole thing into French as he doesn’t speak English.
Anyway, back to the Rockets , as Paul O’Grady says ad nauseum ‘let me hear ya’. Would be nice to hear from them personally about how they are doing.

David
Are you still using TF or have you graduated to the off shoot French Forum ?
Both mate, met some of the founders of the latter on Saturday, it is good but TF has settled down a bit now and is easier to zip through (it has the thread preview facility like TN has now) as I seem to have less and less time for such things these days, but they are very sensitive to the competition. Any post which so much as mentions FF is jumped on straight away. Have a familiar sound to it?
Still use the same pseudo so I can easily be found, usually in the Pets’ Section trying to rehome unwanted dogs.
hi everyone we haven’t been on here for a long long time basically more interesting things to be done, but i (mrs rocket) came on here don’t know why and saw this post what happened to the rockets, well for everyones info we are still living in Canada very happily couldn’t be happier.
we both went to work in a local window factory but things didn’t work out as the recession started to hit them bad, so we were laid off, Ron got laid off last april and went to work in BFS as equipment co ordinator.i got laid off in october and got a job as an animal care technician NOT JUST SHOVELLING PIG POOP, we take care of the sows and their piglets, for steveo’s info, i would rather shovle pig poop than live back in england. Ron got a job there about 2 months after me,the money is good and we don’t have to worry about how much we will make in our next paycheck, its only 5 mins up the road, we are home at 3.15 everyday, except friday when we finish at 12.00, so ron gets to see his two boys and me. we are building up our own little hobby farm,(something we wouldn’t have ever been able to do in uk) we have chickens, pygmy goats and soon hopefully we will have a donkey, aswell as the 5 dogs,2 cats, and a snake.
Ron said it is nice to know we are missed and it gives people something to talk about, if they’re talking about us they are leaving some other poor bugger alone. As for the trucking part of it he doesn’t miss it one little bit.
Take care everyone
all the best from a very happy mr & mrs rocket and family see how happy we are!!!
Hello Family Rockets nice to hear that you are all okay and happy in your new employment, and budding Farmer,s That,s great. Job satisfaction and family well being come before all else, take it easy and do please let us al know how you are doing, Trucking is only a job,and not a way of life,
Thanks Pete, there is life after trucking. well we are on our way to work now it is 4 mins to 6 we start work at 6.30 and finish at 3.
take care we will keep in touch.
the family rocket
I think the Op’s question was fair and he funny reply was quite amusing and not an insult … I am sure the Rockets (whoever they are) would also find it funny.
I am constantly reminded why i prefer the other truck sites that are free of these censorship and dictation controls … it’s no wonder the amount of posters has dwindled so much … ah well ! … back on Onlinetruckers for some freedom.
Gavin McArdle:
Hi is this the same ‘Rocket Ron’ that used to live between Dover & Folkestone?
Hi Gavin, do you mean The Rocket Ron who used to work for ProMotors in the early 80’s and then became an owner driver ?. If his wife is called Sue then she used to post on the site about a year ago using the name Night Owl. I hope this helps.
Regards Steve.
Hi Steve I don’t know if he worked for Promotors when I knew him he had a blue White and lived in a village that we used to drive through between Dover & Folkestone before they built the new road. He was last seen driving for Frans Mass, Birmingham.
A bit off topic :- did you get the e-mail I sent you,& thinking later I’m not sure if that pic of Chris Turnbulls F16 was his last one or the one before last.
I’ll go now Gavin
