Roadworks jn16 to j18 on the m1

is it me or does anybody else think the roadworks are frigging dagerous on the n/s lane from 16 to 18 trying to hold a double decker in lane 1 is a joke ! :frowning:
i have had another lorry clip my mirror ,i have nealy been sucked into the verge were the road is giving way and the road serface is discusting massive potholes etc ,a few weeks ago now a artic lost it and went down the bank ,i had a single decker the other day and that wasnt as bad but the dd is so hard to control ! :imp: :imp:

Straddle lanes 1 and 2 if it is that bad

yes mate its the only way :unamused:

They are only road works, thousands of drivers go through this stretch of motorway daily with no problems, what do you find difficult about it
Contrary to your belief verges do not ■■■■ you in, verges do not ■■■■ at all.

What’s the difference with a double decker or a single decker :unamused: it’s only a bit higher!

err higher c of g :bulb:

exactly, its not wider or heavier, its just a bit higher but not as high as the bridges that don’t have markings, but some people make a song and dance about owt

The effects of a dip in the edge of the road are going to have a greater effect on the handling of the vehicle. Thought that’d be obvious but I forget the company I keep.

i followed a tanker through there the other day and at a paticularly narrow bit,i noticed his drivers side mirror was directly over the white line…even though he was perfectly central in his lane.
youve only to get a ■■■■ come past in lane 2,who doesnt know where his nearside wheels are…and you either lose a mirror or youre on the grass. heck...you can even see in places where theyve changed their minds and moved the white line out a bit :unamused:
there was about 6 accidents in 1 day not long ago…

anyway…im off to the pub..i cant hang around here all night waiting for dri.divvy.driver to have his posts checked

Stop being a ham shanker conor and realise that a professional driver should know how to handle the vehicle :unamused: With a decker you take corners a little more cautious, on a motorway (or any road for that matter) you drive accordingly…you don’t need any more room than a flat bed!

Yes it is a bit narrow, but nothing to worry about for a competent driver.

as we drive on the LEFT in this country  it’s quite simple :sunglasses: if Richard head in the granny lane is not over ENOUGH! it looks tight! :grimacing: fanny merchants! :grimacing:

Verges don’t ■■■■,but drains DO…they have all been fitted with “Rubber Magnets”,and they yank me over every day :open_mouth:

If you lose a wing mirror it’s either your or the other driver’s fault. It’s nothing to do with the road!

The council hight way agencies who are doing this are doing this in there intrest not ours!
They are not improving the roads (i.e smart motorways, extra lanes, resurfacing) they are installing a new safety barrier coz we will all be better off the safer we all are with more HSE legislation and fascism
The truth of the matter is they are keeping them self in a job (sleeping and reading the paper and cups of tea) at out expence

As drivers all we can do is our best using the lanes with all that traffic
Drive with your drivers side wheels on the white lines keeping a safe distance between you and the kerb and expect the overtaking lorry in the middel lane to do the same
So infact a 3 land carrage way has become a 2 lane carrage
if he drives to close to you honk your horn flash your lights open the window and wave your fist as you where there first and it is your right of way

Question did someone rely clip your wing mirrow when he was overtaking you
Did he stop later so you could exchange detailes?
I would of throttled him personaly or if he did not stop then failing to stop at an accident is an offence
There are many wker lorry driver boys that do this come way to close to me and this has caused road rage indeed
infact I have even had road rage with the road workers them self
I have even gone to the extent of causing a blockade (by blokcing off there service entery) where they have had to call the police to remove me

And that is the kind of cokkie arogent attitude that im on about that would cause a situation like this!
I only needed 2" clearance to pass him coz im a good driver
