Hi all… what are these non police mobile speed camera vans about in road works? May of been going a tad to quick past one the other day and now im panicking waiting for a letter arriving at work. Am i right in thinking they get your speed in the same way a normal police van would and then report it to the police? Im aware i shouldn’t be speeding etc.
They are policing the roadworks
I had a similar experience on the M62 with them. They are there for recording cctv rather than speed checking motorists, to record if any idiot drives into the roadworks or has an accident, also to monitor their own workers driving in the roadworks rather than the oncoming traffic.
On road works there are proper speed limit signs, but going past some building developments they often have a square yellow board saying maximum speed 40mph. Do these have any actual legal standing or just people putting them up because they think they can.
