Now I’m all for added security whilst we’re all on the roads keeping the country going.
But WHY should we have a camera provided and installed by the company that’s got an inbuilt microphone ■■
If we’re involved in a crash will it be me to blame for listening to R2 ■■
I’d like to know what peoples opinions are about this one please, camera not a problem but I just think the microphone is a step to far to be honest.
The gas man:
Work are adamant that the microphone stays on though
Assuming you have this version of Road Hawk, then work are wrong.
There are two buttons, marked “E” and “M”. “M” is the small button on the left (sorry, pic a bit out of focus)
“E” stands for “Event”, you push this if you wish to record something when the camera hasn’t been activated, “M” stands for “Mute” and mutes the microphone. And believe me it works, I’ve done the download myself.
The other point to note is that Road Hawk DOES NOT allow office staff to see what you are doing in real time, they would have to download the SD card to see what you had been doing, and they would only be able to see footage captured when it was activated by a bump in the road, slamming the door etc.
Keep meaning to get some kind of camera for my car, had a few scary moments recently, one with a banged up old transit and I’m pretty sure if he hadn’t have got himself back across to his side of the road, and he had scraped me… No way in hell would he have stopped to admit liability and exchange details!!!
We have the roadhawk dc1 s as said press the button far left kills mic input job done then just act dumb if questioned i do however have a dc1 in my car fantastic kit tbh

Fitted a ‘cheapie’ bought off Fleabay to my car a couple of weeks ago. High definition capture of everything that happens now. By the law of sod, nobody has done anything stupid in its field of view yet.

if your not doing anything wrong why worry about it?
But this is the problem with some drivers now, stop rolling over and waiting for your tummy to be tickled grow a set and stop letting them try to screw us over at any given opportunity.
No I’ll not be doing anything wrong but it’s the principal of the matter to be honest.
It’s strange how this level of surveillance was considered to be one of the greatest evils of Communism, yet somehow it’s fine nowadays in the UK. Russians visiting London gawp in amazement at the cameras everywhere, Uncle Joe would be having a ■■■■■■■■■ about it.
why would your boss want audio?
the only reason I could think of is if you are heard saying something along the lines of road rage prior to an actual accident.
I am assuming that you would never say aloud what you think of your boss/planner

One lad i know has been sacked based on audio evidence from one of these cameras, he was slagging the manager and the firm off to himself.
The manager downloaded the sd, he watched and listened to everything!
Forward facing with no audio I would welcome. Anything else and I’m off, and we’ve told them so. I could maybe get down with forward facing with audio but cab facing they can ■■■■ right off.
On board cams with microphones lol whats this world coming to… technically its illegal to record anything and its invasion of privacy. Same as in cab facing cameras. What happens if you take a call when on you break for possible new job. Bosses could exploit this and be checking the audio to see what youve said through out the day.
I think its good to have dash camera’s that record whats in front of you but this is going one step too far.
