Road closure

Hi all,
Need some help from any drivers from the Devon area / unless you know the area from elsewhere in the country .
Have a delivery to Dunkeswell airfield the route passes through the village of Hemyock , however the road is closed all week . Another route is to access from the A 30 . Rather than drive M5 to A30 Exeter anybody ever come off at Cullompton and travelled the A373 into Honiton cutting the corner off .
Still find it strange they are actually closing the road at Hemyock as it’s quite a primary route for hgvs getting to the Airfield which is awkward to get to anyway.
Thanks any help would be much appreciated.

The A373 is passable in an artic, however how much time you would save is negligible as there are pinch points along the route. I would say that this road is similar to the main road into Dunkeswell from Honiton and probably sightly better than the road that goes through Hemyock. When you arrive at Honiton there is a 7.5 limit through the town so you will need go back slightly onto the A30 anyway. If was in a rigid I would use it, in an artic probably just easier and less stressful to stay on M5/a30. Choice is yours

Thanks ace am in a rigid 14 ft 6 high .
Was also looking at B3391 through culmstock into Hemyock then up there narrow hill towards dunkeswell. Funny if I look on the Devon highway website it says road closed and there are signs near hemyock saying it’s closed from 19th to the30th however if I go on Google maps it just comes up orange and sends you through hemyock surely if it was closed Google would send you on an alternate route . Perhaps I’m over thinking it

Don’t forget any work due to start today willl have been postponed till tomorrow

Depending where you are coming from, it’s not a bad route to go from ilminster roundabout, take A303 to Buckland St Mary, then road to Culmhead, Smeatharpe, and Dunkeswell.

A373 Cullompton to Honiton is good for the first few miles and then its horrible.
