Sad to announce that Orhan Sertel died on Thursday after a very long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was one of the Middle East pioneers (before Astran!) with his Istanbul based Contex company.
In the early 1970’s he created OHS transport based in London which grew into the largest fleet of Mack trucks in the UK.
Latterly he bought PIE and started United Transport and Baytrans with offices in Antwerp and Munich.

I forgot to mention that he celebrated his 90th. birthday a few weeks back.

Although Turkish he was an alumni of Harvard Business School and spoke fluent English but with a decidedly American accent!
