Rip offs US style

I was in Boston friday morning and tuned to one of the very few US radio station worth listening to … 105.7 WROR which is good fun and they were talking about the huge stadium south of Boston on US 1, the one the New England Patriots use. It seems they chatge a staggering $50.00 extra to park there on top of the over priced entry ticket, this in my mind is a disgrace but typical of the greed in this country. Anyhow … the local residents have come up with an earner by charging sports fans and rock concert goers $10.00 per car to park on their lawns and good for them, however ! the local authorities have now made it ilegal to charge for someone to park on your drive or lawn within 5 miles of the stadium, they are obviously getting a nice back hander from the stadium owners. There was a heated discussion on air between the town official and the leader of the residents association who said that the local people are so insensed by this law that they now advertise free parking on their lawns which should really get up the stadiums owners nose
Good for them I say.

What a [zb]ing liberty :unamused:

Sounds like Wembley stadium, charge an arm and a leg to park, so the companies on the estate do parking at a fraction of the price

Ahhh, so that’s how they pay Tom Brady’s multi-million dollar salary then!! :imp:
What’s happened to the Gillette stadium in Foxboro??

As a big Patriots fan, I know before I go what I will need to pay to park. I also know the high price of entry but at the end of the day the games are always sold out and the car parks full.
If you want real rip off try living in New York City, and now you can’t even trust the police not to shoot you.

We load at Foxboro Terminal Warehouse just up the street from Foxboro stadium, they allso charge $50 a whack to park there during a game. Maybe they’ll be exempt from the ban if they put a little green in the right persons pocket.

Thats the very same stadium Ducky

They own the land and it’s all part of the same complex, there should be one charge for entry and thats final, people who plan sometimes once in a lifetime trips to go there have no idea they are gonna get hit by this charge.
The Great Escape (Six flags) near us is just as bad, if you park on the same side of the road as the park it’s $20.00 to park, across the street (same ownership) is $10.00 then it’s a whacking $50.00 to get in even if you are a parent and just watching your kids, soft drinks are banned at the gate as is food and to take a family of 4 in the food and drink alone could come as high a $100.00 for the day. Some yeard back I wrote to a local newspaper to highlite this and the theme park lifted the ban … only for two years though.
I will never recomend this rip off place to a living soul, my little girl likes going there as kids do but she is autistic and only goes on 3 rides without having a meltdown so a few hundred bucks for my little girl to ride three child rides is a no no.
