About 11years on from the D1000 photo this is a shot of two of the three sister Scania ridgids,( Tunnadal,Munksund and Holmsund) we ran in the early '80’s they are parked in the rank that backed onto the West Coast mainline,Whooooosh ! it is the longest and fastest straight on the whole line between Euston and Glasgow Central.

Hullo all,
Some lovely pictures of Rigids there, but somehow I just don’t get excited about them. The D1000 of Bewick’s and that one of Larry’s are probably the best though.
This time home (Too early I’m bloody freezing), I have got a job driving a rigid, it pays well but it is very different from what I was used to and very hard work. For a start I keep putting the wrong hand down when reversing, and the cab is so confining, it’s tiny. The worst thing though is, every morning I have to insert my plastic card (this is a first for me). Then when I get going,? Going, I can’t go faster than 56 mph and I’ve got a pain in my right leg trying to keep the thing moving at a decent pace. This digital thing really has me befuddled, four and a half hours and I must stop, press a button to prove I’ve stopped, and take a rest of forty five minutes, traffic jams mean you have just lost yourself a quarter of an hour of precious time. It’ s just a so very different world, I just can 't believe it. Still it will, if I can stick it out, pay me enough to travel Around the World again next Winter. Thank Goodness I was in the business when it was Fun to do the job. I’m Shook Rigid.
Cheers, Archie.
