Rhybudd!

Apparently that’s Welsh for “warning”, according to Google Translate

Not that I’m planning on being down that part of the country anytime soon, but for those of you who are, watch out for the changed speed limits on some Welsh roads later this month (which I would expect will be backed up by camera vans)

I’ll let someone else start the “revenue generator” complaint thread

There are already towns/villages in Wales with 20mph speed limits and have had for sometime, it takes forever to get through them at that speed and the locals don’t even like it.

I always stick to it, because you never know if there is a camera van around, then I seem to have a long queue of traffic behind me, mainly locals!!!

Yes, I reckon most places have some 20mph roads, but it appears that for Wales it will now be the default limit “nationwide” for restricted roads.

Will they put 20 mph signs up or just take lots of money.

It reads to me that all roads in built up areas will be 20mph unless its signed differently!!

Yes that what i thought but my brain has been taught build up area 30 mph unless marked otherwise.

Was expecting some Welsh form of marijuana. Don’t go there anymore thankfully but noted.

To be fair there is nothing wrong with dropping town centre, and village limits down to 20.
Kids, pedestrians, old people, people preoccupied on their shopping,.and all the rest of it.
One of the very few GENUINE road safety campaigns,.where as camera vans sat at motorway bridges where it is relatively safe to drive at speed,.certainly isn’t…imo.
I only wish it was the case in the village I live, very few stick to 30…

Define built up area.
According to Surrey County Council’s similar plans this will be reduced from 30 mph to 20 mph.
