If I wish to obtain the HGV class 1 license, will the reversing test be done in an arctic or can it be done in a rigid? I’m assuming it must be done in an arctic but I just want to check that is correct.

Artic OR drawbar. And that doesn’t affect what type of vehicle you use for the practical.

It all depends on the company you use to train with.
Some smaller companies may have class C vehicles which can be used with a draw bar when training for C+E
