Rest periods

Currently im working 5x12 hrs shifts and my normal day is arround 5 hrs driving and 2 hrs other work 1 hr break. the rest of my day im on poa waiting to get loaded. my question is how many weekends a month can i work is it one in 3 or one in two my working time is arround 7 hrs per day mon-fri? i get 11hrs daily rest during my week.

With your shift times - one day EVERY OTHER weekend

WEEK 1
Finish Saturday 1800
Start Monday 0600
Gives a reduced weekly rest of 36 hours with 9 hours to pay back

WEEK 2
Finish Friday 1800
Start Monday 0600
Gives a full weekly rest of 60 hours = 45 hours full weekly rest + 9 hours payback + 6 hours

There is no limit to how many weekends you can work. The max you can work is 6 days then you must take a min of 45 hours off. You can reduce your weekly rest every other week to 24 hours but the reduction must be paid back by the 3rd week. Eg if you reduce your weekly rest by 12 in the next 3 weeks you must take a weekly rest of 57 hours on 45.

My guess would be that you could do one Saturday or Sunday every other week but without knowing start and finish times it’s difficult to be precise.

If you’d like to tell us your usual start and finish times, especially the times you normally finish on a Friday and start on a Monday together with the expected start/finish times for the weekend we’d be able to be more precise.

There is so much wrong with that I can’t even be bothered beginning to point it all out. Let’s just go with the first sentence is correct and after that it’s pretty much all downhill. :stuck_out_tongue:

This week i worked 63hrs ive only used 5-6hrs drive time per day and my working time is arround 7-8 hrs per day with rest is poa/breaks taking up the rest of the day.

most days i start at 8am and and finish at 8pm the odd shift takes me to 10 pm but on most fridays i finish at 8 pm.

So how many of these “odd shifts” do you do? The odd shifts may mean you are taking reduced rest periods

You could legally work either Saturday or Sunday every second week.

For the tacho rules it isn’t how much you’ve done each day which governs what you can do at the weekend. It’s all about fitting in the required weekly rest periods. If you are finishing at 20:00 Friday and resuming at 08:00 Monday that gives you a weekly rest of 60 hours and will allow you to legally work one weekend day every two weeks, either a Saturday or a Sunday. If it is the same 08:00 - 20:00 shift as you do now it will mean every second week you will have a reduced rest of 36 hours, regardless of whether you choose to work the Saturday or Sunday, leaving you 9 hours to compensate for and which will be taken care of by your 60 hour rest the following weekend.

The WTD won’t be a problem as you are only averaging 35 - 40 hours a week now so an extra 7 or 8 hours of work every two weeks will still keep you below the 48 hour weekly average.
