I used to take groupage to Nurnberg, never grossed over 25 ton going down, the thing had absolutley no go in it, it was a case of seeing a hill and not wanting to go up it, it was no different loaded for home, i used to have a handball load (in that stepframe tilt!) of Playmobil toys (like Lego) gross weight 5 tons, i would be down 2 full gears going up hills that i used to be in top or 1 split from top in other trucks id driven before that (the magnum i had was an M reg 420) (i cant seem to find any decent pictures of it at the min sorry) if you know the cats back in Germany, on the other side of the road heading north, i used to be down to 20mph, that is absolutley ridiculous with that kind of weight on!
Although there is a lot of space in them, there was no actual storage space to put your gear, so it all went on top bunk or on bottom bunk, after this job i drove a 320 FL10 for a couple of weeks carting bagged sugar around (heavy), and that truck would whip the arse of the Magnum going up a hill even if the Magnum had a 6 ton load. Absolutley without a doubt the worst truck i have driven. Thats not to say the new Magnums are like it thou! But i still think the actual storage space is poor on them considering the size of the cab.
YEP i agree with you kindle, the cab is crap for storage to say how big it is there is nothing in there, the new version is a lot better but even then a lot more could be done inti, i dont like them to be trueful even tho we run one wasnt my choice the driver wanted on so we got him one, even that is crap on hills wouldnt pull you out of bed in my eyes, but he seems to get on with it so best left as it is,but saying all that i wouldnt rule out another magnum tho, with the new shape /lateist cab design may be on the cards next mind
just waiting for the 520 to be brought out and may have a dabble at one, i did say MAY!!
As its nearly all Volvo running gear it should be up to the job mate!
yer the one i have now kindle is volvo running gear with the 13ltr 500 engine auto box etc, but its crap pulling aswell to be honest see"s a hill and it changes into a merc 1625 may chip the thing yet and see if that makes any diffrence still out on that one yet,
now wheres hawkie we will hear a few tails as to why we shouldnt chip engines “hawkie were are you” it hasnt sunk into him yet even though he runs a down hill kettle boiling racer,

Chipping does make a difference mate, or you could have the pump altered, gotta be worth a go.
Adownhill kettle boiling racer!! PMSL! you got a way with words mate!!!
wardg:
Im pretty sure this is an ex Formula one truck, (probably Benneton maybe?) due to it being a left ■■■■■■ 6x2 and the big give away is the roof spoiler that Magnums have when theyre on F1. It probably had side skirts and completley filled in chassis etc as well originally.
here ya go kindle
