Removed for review. hgv to pilot

EH!!!..……REMOVED FOR REVIEW!!!.. WHY? …… :unamused: Try and stop being trigger happy mods ffs.

It was removed because it had been reported several times, including a report from the original poster.

That’s fine thanks

Odd■■?

I found the subject matter banal, it was just daydreaming really. Who has 50k lying around to waste on a pilots license… ok, Bruce Dickinson does. Until the day that iron maiden stop dragging their heels and ask me to sing for them, I will carry on driving trucks

A commercial licence costs £120,000 not £50,000, the ways are an airline pays it, or build up the hours needed, like puddle jumpers in Africa, taking tourists to safari lodges.

In Africa, the employer will not pay accomodation and food, students camp out in tents.

I want to become a consultant refrigeration enginer driving C+E for a hobby, any idea how I can achieve that?

It only works though if you ‘‘Don’t need the money’’ , apparently

I was going to start a ‘‘HGV to Astronaut’’ thread, but I reckon I won’t bother now.

You’re off to a flying start if you can’t spell engineer :smiling_imp:

I love it when people tell me I can’t do something - it makes the fire of me needing to it burn a bit brighter.

Anyway thanks to everyone who has offered me advice and guidance since I started out wanting to drive trucks. The forum was a great use to me - and even helped me find the company who trained me. Certainly without the forum I wouldn’t know as much as I know now.

Either way - given I’m on pre moderation it’s clear my posting style is not conducive to the good of the forum. So I’ll be stepping back and using the time to focus on other stuff. Again thanks for all the advice.

P.S I can now graduate to being a pain on the plane version of truck net. Interestingly I was told I couldn’t and shouldn’t bother with truck driving either. So far it’s all worked out fine.

I was looking forward to the “which satnav” section of that discussion.

You watched that programme too lol. on the queasy jet programme they do mention the 50-60 k figure

I don’t know what is truth and what is not, this is internet, you don’t know people who posting here. I definitely know that there are different situations, some people have more money, some less. For me some amounts of money may seem big for others not so and opposite. I don’t understand why any post would irritate someone, be it becoming pilot, astronaut, doctor, singer. For me the only criteria is if it’s interesting to me or not, if not, I don’t bother reading it farther and spend my time on something else. Just my thoughts.

Think the above post sums it up nicely, IMHO.

2 people had pilots licences at one place I worked.
One of them had 50% of a light aircraft.
I know it’s true because he took my mate in it.
The other one could be b.s. though.

even if he needed a satnav to get up there, and even if he did the nights out.robroy bangs on about sitting in pubs and socialising over a beer or two when overnighting, and you can be guaranteed no matter what pub he pics up there, itl be guaranteed have no atmosphere…

Its not where yo are coming from but where you are going that matters. I remember about thirty years ago there was a taxi driver (Fred Housego) he appeared on Mastermind and came within a whisker of winning in the final. He had time between fares and studied . A trucker could use his waiting time and also bone up on the exam stuff.

Fred Housego won Mastermind in 1980, I came second and my favourite subject was telling porkies …

Ingram Wilcox came third in 1980, he was later the 5th person to win £1m on ‘who wants
To be a millionaire’…strangely my Nan knew him ! And that’s true.

Well done Raymundo, I just knew that you had talent for something.
