reduced weekly rest

Normally I work mon to fri from aprox 4.30am till I finish which can be as early as 1pm or as late as 6pm depending on work load and how the day has gone. however even if I finish on a Friday at 6 I get 58 hours in for my weekly rest

However today I did an extra shift started at 4.15 and finished at 12pm so by the time I get to clock in on Monday I will only of had 40 hours and not 45.

First question is I assume this will be made up next weekend on my usual shift pattern so don’t need to worry about it. However the second question is now I have had a reduced weekly rest do I still have two reduced weekly rests to use should I need to in the coming week. (none taken last week)

sorry for the possibly very silly questions

Correct, you’ve only got five hours compensation to pay back so that will easily be covered by your next weekly rest period.

However the second question is now I have had a reduced weekly rest do I still have two reduced weekly rests to use should I need to in the coming week. (none taken last week)
I assume you’re referring to reduced daily rest periods.

You can have three reduced daily rest periods between weekly rest periods, a reduced weekly rest period does not count as a reduced daily rest period, so when you start work on Monday you will have three reduced daily rest periods available until the following weekly rest period.

At the moment don’t worry, do a print out, and write urgent store/rdc delivery. Sorted. According to everyone us big bunnies killing truckers, are now Heroes saving the public, we can’t do anything wrong.

My bad I keep getting the number of extended driving periods and reduced daily rests per week confused.

Why doesn’t the pay back of the hours I lost this week have to be 12 or more next week. (im sure I read that yesterday before posting but now cant find it) Im not arguing just want to make sure I understand for future reference.
many thanks

You finished at 1200 midday on Sunday, 40.5 hours later you’re gonna start at 0430 on Monday

45 - 40.5 = 4.5 hours short, so 4.5 hours needs to be paid back. You have till midnight on Sunday 12th April as that is the end of the 3rd week after the week the reduction is in to attach the 4.5 hours to the end of a rest period of at least 9 hours

So any day you finish at 1300 or earlier and start at 0430 the next day will pay it back (8.5 hour shift + 11 hours rest + 4.5 hours compensation, or a day you finish at 1500 and use a reduced daily rest.

But it’ll easily be paid back on a weekly rest, by having 49.5 hours off this weekend for example, (45 + 4.5)
