Red light cam

Exactly a roll of the dice and hope for the best outcome, so yes either tell the truth or lie and then find out what happens.

More twists than a mills and boom, and other things you’ve said suggesting I’m lying about my situation, and grow up!! Maybe I’m wrong but these seem hostile to me, if I’m wrong I apologise, regardless I do appreciate the response with the other information regarding my question

If it wasn’t my children, it would be a very clear decision, I just want the best for them, possibly I’m being too protective, but I’m a father it’s what we do

Pretty much what I’ve been trying to tell you all along.

Suspicion arises when people only tell bits of the story and add different bits after thee fact.

If you went to a solicitor and told him the story like you have here how could he possibly help you without knowing the facts as they happened and not leaving out crucial bits of information.

That is when people start to believe it’s a wind up, when bits keep getting added as it what trolls do to elicit a response from forum members.

I have no idea how genuine your posts are your a random stranger on the internet just like me, I try to take all posts as genuine and offer the best responses I can.

But all of that aside go and see a bloody solicitor for advice.

I agree with you, I didn’t really want to go into detail about it, just wanted to know if the drivers face is photographed on red light camera, for example if I take the points myself, but the the evidence shows a much younger driver then I’m in trouble, if it’s in fact my youngest he’s only 16 and the consequences for him could be much more severe than me excepting 3 points, so I’m hesitant to do this, but thank you all for your responses, I have a lot to think about, I’m a law abiding person, but when it comes to my children it gets difficult

It is already messy.
I can see that you don’t want to drop a family member in the muck, but someone has dropped you in it.

Whether or not a photo was taken through the screen?
Maybe that would influence your choice of whether or not to make a choice of honesty or not? It is potentially very high stakes to play with.

Sorry but, no one will get out of this cleanly.

How does lying and perverting the course of justice protect your kids? It doesn’t it teaches them you can lie you way through trying to get out of the consequences for your actions.

I’d suggest you take a step back and look at this through non rose tinted spectacles personally.

Protecting your kids or teaching then it’s ok to lie and pervert the course of justice? Ok then why not.

They also both sound of an age to know better anyway one must be at least 17 and the other well probably close around the age anyway.

It’s not so clear cut, either way there is gonna be consequences from me, but with the ticket, either I take 3 points, which would be fine, but if my youngest was driving then, driving without a license, without insurance, and probably more, I’d rather take the points than him getting into trouble with the law, he’s in trouble with me regardless,

We all make mistakes when young

Look at the possible sentences:
Forget the red light, that is now minor.
TWOCing, and no insurance? Might well be a fine and points. It will affect the person if/when they get their own vehicle, etc., but if young the fine shouldn’t be excessive.

Perverting justice? Only the lowest categories are non-custodial.

Saving a fine and points vs you in nick?

Extremely good point

I disagree taking a car uninsured etc and also possibly without a licence etc is not making a mistake. It’s a decision to do something that is not lawful. You can punish them as much as you like but you are not the lawful punisher for such events. That’s for the police, cps and courts aka the justice system to decide what punishment there should be.

Like I say sometimes love needs to be tough love, people have to make mistakes in their life I totally agree but they also have to own up to them and take the consequences.

I know someone who drove his dad’s car home from the pub while drunk because his dad was drunk, trying to save his dad from getting done for drink driving.

He crashed and left the numberplate at the scene. He got done for far less than his dad would have. He was fined and banned for a period of driving but didn’t have a licence so the ban was pointless anyway.

He didn’t drive at the time and waited his time out and many year later learnt to drive so it had zero effect on his driving licence when he got one. We are talking over 10 years from then until he passed his test.

Now that may be an exception but the penalty for his dad would have been much more severe than he got.

Very true, thank you for this response, I found a way to request the photo evidence and I think I’m gonna request it and then the culprit can face the consequences, best to be honest, thank you everyone for your responses

You are in a very bad position, but I think that honesty is going to be best in the long term.
I hope it goes as well as it can.

I fully understand not dobbing your kids in. I’ve been in a similar situation and took it on the chin, for one of my kids.
Should the OP cop it sweet, once the fine has been paid, no-one’s going to look at the photos.

You are being unfair to your sons, it could have been a cat burglar.

If only it was that simple :joy:

good god man. if i had taken my parents car out with out their permission they would of dragged me down the cop shop themselves. even now when i visit my mother if i need to move her car so i can get on the drive as well i go and ask her first and im 47.

However has your older son got his own insurance or on yours? Might not be so bad if it was him

My parents were the same, it wouldn’t be so bad if I take the points, my license is clean, I’m just worried if I claim I was driving and they have a photo of the drivers face, they can see it wasn’t me, I just don’t know if these red light cameras do photograph the face
