Red fuel use or cherry

With the uk being the most expensive country to buy fuel, there must be numerous operators running on cherry,or parafin/kerosene,with the addition of sulphuric acid to remove the red dye.
Years ago,it took me a long time to work out how truck firms would be shipping out with and worn out trucks, then later on,a whole fleet of new vehicles paid for by the use of rebated fuel,it was common place for use in hidden belly tanks in the headbords of trailers, the driver would have a marine type pump,to fill the truck tanks, while shipping in to France,it would be the norm to offer the Coffee money or a bung to a Douane agent, see no evil, hear no evil,he was on a low wage anyway, the secret was to read his body language,a raised eyebrow,or the official stamp being raised, then offer before he made you pay up officialy.

M1 J13 truck stop got busted not that long ago for using KEROSENE based fuel, higher % of Kerosene than Diesel was the outcome when tests were done… If you check the roadtransport website theres stuff up there about it.

cant see too many risking it these days red in kent is 97p a litre

I got pulled in by Customs & Excise officials on the A44 at Llangurig, Mid Wales last July. They were pulling 4X4’s mainly as the Royal Welsh show was on at Builth Wells. In my opinion all the diesel should be white with all the duty on it.It would stop the cheats who are knackering it for the genuine people in haulage.

expensive there then…87p a litre here from the pump at a local supermarket station as well…

About 65 - 70 + 5% vat around here bulk price.

Toby is right, a lot of owner drivers/small hauliers made a lot of money running to Italy etc. on it hidden in trailer headboard and belly tanks in the 70’s and 80’s.

So I’m told!
