Red Diesel

Have seen that farmers and construction firms are worried about the budget on Wednesday There is talk about putting up the tax on red diesel to try and encourage the change to alternative fuels

…They’d be better off taxing Cat Litter, Rags, and plastic Funnels…

At least that way there would be a whole lot less fuel thefts from layby-parked trucks…

i watched some video and the fella used a uncut loaf of broad to sieve the red dye out

gov.uk/government/news/new- … fuel-fraud
“The new marker will make rebated fuel much harder for fraudsters to ‘launder’ (i.e. remove the marker from it) and sell on at a profit. Launderers filter the fuel through chemicals or acids to remove the government marker. The chemicals and acids remain in the fuel and damage fuel pumps in diesel cars.”
Bit of leap-frogging going on. It isnt just a bit of colouring in the fuel apparently. But as one side tries to mark it, tother will look for ways around it.

years back the lad next door to me had a false neck on his tank. the real original neck ran down and was just a pipe blanked off full of regular diesel . thing is even tho he filled his tank with red thru the fake neck he had never once been stopped which was [probably] why he was showing me his dodge

I’ve heard that before, but iirc the dippers can also detect the marker in red diesel in the exhaust pipe residue

Seen that mentioned in other forums, but cant see much else. But could it be a misunderstanding of this? [chromatographytoday.com/new ... cted/37727](https://www.chromatographytoday.com/news/gc-ms/46/breaking-news/how-is-fuel-fraud-detected/37727) Samples of the fuel are taken roadside, and gases are analysed from that. (There are non visible markers in the fuel). It isnt exhaust gas being sniffed.
I`ll stand correction though.

I wonder what the Irish lads are going to do?! :smiling_imp:

irish diesel is green instead of northern ireland (uk) red.
kitty litter and acid launders it nicely no matter what colour it starts off as so itl make not 1 jot of difference to the resident scallywags that launder it,or the bargain hunters and taxi drivers that use it .

As soon as someone develops a way to do something, somebody else funds a way to fiddle/do it cheaper.

Allegedly they are already faking the new plastic£20 note.

Bloke I worked with used to go to the boat yard with a jerry can. Stop 100yds down the road, tip it in and away he went.

Or just run it on domestic heating oil, kerosene.

Allegedly.

That is the sort of stuff they put out for you to believe to discourage you .
Like the old one about once you put it in your tank only once it is always detectable if they check your tank there on after…it ain’t, trust me.

they also double the fine if youve previously been caught for no tv licence by the detector van…
a hint of red in the tank is fine…running on red for a first offence is £500 fine and drive away,or if you cant get someone to come with the dosh, you need to pay recovery/storage on top and show insurance before driving away.
if youve a cheapo car,its easier to just pay the 500 and walk away.

They also recover the car at your expense to a garage who will drain the tank and obviously charge you for it.

you have the option if your competent to have someone come with a container and drain it yourslf.
my friend got caught coming off the ferry at stranraer with a full middle east spec couple of belly tanks underneath a load of hanging and apart from the fine and the interrogation, they let him get his mechanics come out and remove the fuel.
its all hassle you dont need though.
i dunno about england but over here theres facebook groups posting where the dippers are as soon as theyre spotted…
