I was carrying plane engine modules yesterday and put them both on the rear of the triple axle trailer since there was no way to open the curtain from the front. I put one of them on the rear triple axle and the other next to it, closer to the centre of the trailer. Then I started to wonder about the max axle weight but thought because that is the triple axle it should be ok (one box is about 4tonnes afair). I made it to the point of destination but just wondering was that a perfectly reasonable and legal way to carry that stuff?
8 tonnes total = no problem
thanks.
I spent an hour searching for a decent straps and ratchets in every unit we have. Having those lovely edge protectors seems like a dream
Legal.
But better with more weight on the pin, maybe?
In bad weather you could end up on trouble.
Why couldn’t you open the curtain from the front?

the curtain bar wouldn’t even budge (old rusty trailer) and opening it from the passenger side wasn’t possible (not enough space for forklift to manoeuvre).
Couldn’t load from front, mmm.
Just as well no nuns chasing fluffy kittens ran out in front of you, making you stop a bit quick.
The weight of the rear container says its 2030kgs so only 4 tonnes in total I would guess
