Now because of the land being so waterlogged our leach field is backed up and has stopped working, because fo the sewerage not flowing the pipes blocked and friday I dug up the septic cover to set about clearing the blockage. The mechanical pipe snake was not big enough, so off I went to the hadrware store to spend $30 on a bigger one, the blockage was about 20 ft in and I managed to clear it and decided not to recover the lid with soil untill a dry spell so I could be sure, Friday night we had more torrents and the hole is now 8 inches deep with rain water, which had lifted the seal, so it looks like I will be up to my knees in poop again … I need a house with city sewerage …

6 miles to the nearest bar , the same to a gas station and a supermarket, 20 miles to the nearest city (Glens Falls, about the size of Banbury)
90 miles to the hearest real city (Albany). No street lights, no sidewalk, wild animals, (I saw a Bear less than 200 yards from our house a few weeks back).
Oh, that rain was just wonderful. Just as we were moving our furniture, it started to rain. Washed all our stuff. Didn’t stop raining for 48 hours, either…
BTW, I’ve driven some pretty marginal trucks in my time, but that piece of trash that U-Haul rented me was atrocious!!
Sounds like Alcatraz… sorry - Ardoch. We’ve been rained in for almost 2 weeks now, and it’s about the same distance to a bar. Anyone want to lend me a junker for a couple weeks so I can go get Beer?
Well, the remnants of Frances have dumped on us, and my new house has a wet basement!! Of course, most of the boxes from my move were still down there…

In about 5 days Ivan will dump half the Atlantic on us
